At the risk of sounding severe, I want to distance myself from a particular type of musician by saying that my love for music is neither for show, nor an attempt to present myself in a more interesting or attractive light. I do not care what anyone thinks of my being a musician. It is not an accessory I choose to wear whenever I feel like it. I am not one who pursues his craft in some bohemian, half-assed, hipster way. I have suffered immensely for it; and because of that, it is the truest, most honest, and substantial thing inside of me.
"Dude...you must be from California." (I am)
"Have you considered doing voice-overs? Or...phone sex?" (I have)
"Wow! Your English is so good!" (I've had me some book learnin')
The Fountainhead (solely in regard to the idea of a man who has uncompromising standards)
Speaking of uncompromising standards: Godfather (part II)
Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Olafur Arnalds, Richie Havens
Hayao Miyazaki, for his ability to capture both the beauty of heroism and the wonders of nature.
ramen (not that Maruchan bullshit)
nature (thanks to NYC and Bach)
my tongue (you know, for the purposes of language...)
But there is hope.
In the midst of this colorless existence, the artist begins to realize that having no inherent meaning does not preclude her ability to create meaning. Suddenly the answer to the quintessential question ceases to exist as some a priori, mysterious, all-encompassing principle of life. The very question itself becomes meaningless and a newer, more hopeful question emerges: "What meaning would you like your life to have?"
This is at once more daunting and more exciting for her. For it is one thing to have to unearth a pre-existing principle of life, but to have to create that principle through her own mind is a feat not usually attempted, let alone achieved. But for those artists who do risk the ridicule and criticism of cowardly beings, violently refusing to succumb to the mundane vicissitudes of daily life, the reward is an existence full of color and beauty. Colors the artist herself created, and beauty that never fades, existing eternally both inside the artist's soul and in her work.

you read my "I spend a lot of time thinking about" section and you either threw up your vegan dinner in disgust or you creamed your pants because you…well, you get the idea. If it had no effect on you, you will have no effect on me, nor I on you (unless you're super sexy, in which case I am defenseless).
if you think that showing me your Instagram account is a way for me to get to know you, then you're way too young for me.
you are Virginia Johnson.
