Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Good Morning, Starshine! The Earth says hello!
So.....I'm Ben. Not having a ton of luck on this site, but may just
be taking a wrong approach. That said, I'll just try and be as
succinct as possible. As there is plenty of information to be
gleaned further down the page, I'll skip the boring stuff here and
put out a silly little PSA of sorts instead.
If you're here because I sent you some random-ass "Hi there!" type
message, that's because you did a spectacular job of catching this
guys attention. Which is not particularly easy to do with
generically framed boxes of information that don't really lend
themselves to the "sparks flying" aspect of relationships. But I
digress. In hopes of not coming off as some condescending douche,
I'll just say nice work. Imagine a high-five here (I do those a
lot). Hopefully you're here reading this, and the sentiment is
mutual. If so.....let's talk. Maybe at some point, real life high
fives will ensue.
If you're here because OKC sent you here and thinks we may
click....I'm sorry, their matching system seems slightly askew from
what I've seen so far. BUT! I am a real person, I do check this
thing pretty regularly, and am (Oh my god, wait for it....)
actively looking for someone to be partners in crime with. No
felonies though. Also, not really hoping that phrasing to be taken
literal. Just felt the need to clarify as sarcasm and deadpan humor
tend not to translate well via the interweb.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've spent the last 5+ years working for a local restaurant, but
plan on going to school for music in the next year or so. Until
then, I am big on attending live music shows, attempting to be
passable at the bass guitar, and finding various ways of being
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Off the top of my head...making people laugh, kicking my boss's ass
at words with friends, sinking 3 pointers (In real life, not just
video games. Though, I do both), working hard, making random
references to music, video games, and pretty much anything else in
the wheelhouse of a mid-20's guy that isn't a complete asshole.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I tend to stay pretty quiet until I gain some sort of familiarity,
so I suppose it'd be my demeanor. I hear alot of that "chill guy"
stuff more often than not, anyway.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books-Kitchen Confidential, Waiter Rant, I Hope They Serve Beer in
Hell, and the Harry Potter series have served pretty well.
Movies-All time favorites are probably Super Troopers and Waiting
(can you tell I've probably spent too much time in food-service
yet?). As trips to the theatre are concerned, I'm down for pretty
much whatever looks awesome at the time.
Music-Won't spend a ton of time listing bands, but the ones I seem
to always come back to are Thrice, Streetlight Manifesto, and
Strung Out. That said, I think I'll just throw out bands catching
my attention periodically in hopes of someone messaging me with a
"Hey! I think those guys are great, too! Let's talk on it!" (Don't
judge, a guy can dream right?)
Bands for the week of 3/25: Sevendust (will be attending their show
on 4/2), Foals, Frank Turner, and Local Natives
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Adaptability is important, so this question is inherently wrong to
me. That said, I would be pretty rocked to the core without
friendship, music, and a sense of "home."
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Mostly...world domination and how to keep the masses from hating me
when it happens. Honestly though, I don't have a solid answer to
this question as it changes daily, if not more often.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working. As for the nights preceeding my days off, usually having
some sort of time enjoying the company of friends. Otherwise,
enjoying time at home and nerding out a bit. Be it on video games,
watching dumb tv, or dabbling on my bass.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
hmm...sounds like date night conversation to me. I'll pass on this
