I am smart, fun, and playful.

My Self-Summary

Disclaimer: If I say anything you find offensive, weird, etc. here or in any e-mail I may send you, I'm probably just trying to be funny, sarcastic, outrageous, etc. So take it with a grain of salt ... I'm a great guy and everybody's best friend.

Looking for someone to talk with, debate with, do things with, travel with, have fun with, etc. Would prefer a long-term relationship, but OK with a short-term relationship or possibly friends.

Probably the thing I've done that's most visible (my "claim to fame") is getting a cool program going that integrated telecommunications and automobiles ... it's now called OnStar. That thing with the airbag going off and OnStar sending out help ... that was me.

Have done a lot of traveling and living different places as well. Originally from Japan (dad was in the Air Force). Have lived in Florida (Homestead, Orlando, and Gainesville), Massachusetts, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Detroit, and now Atlanta (I'm pretty happy here). If I could live in three places, it would be Atlanta, London (it IS the coolest place on earth), and Sydney (definitely the place people party the most).

Kind of bummed around Europe on a corporate expense account commuting from Atlanta to London for a year and spending weekends either with friends or going to various cities in Europe (weekend trip to Paris ... literally).

Got lost with friends and wound up at Stonehenge under a full moon. We assumed they would be doing human sacrifices (but only of ex-pats since all of us were ex-pats).

Had a contest to determine which language was sexiest in a bar in Soho with about ten of us. Picked a phrase and everyone said the phrase in their native language and then we all voted which sounded sexiest. The phrase we all agreed on was, "hey honey, it's time to wash the dishes." After immediately ruling out German as the sexiest language, we all kind of agreed on a tie between French and Italian.

If you want to feel more decadent than you ever have, go to Baden-Baden Germany and go to Friedrichsbad (built on the ancient Roman baths). They have about a 20-30 step process you go through (naked) through warm saunas, cool saunas, dry heat, a massage mid way through, and floating in a circular pool looking up at what looks at the capitol rotunda. You feel unbelievable when you're done.

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to do interesting things. Always have. Always will. And have fun!

Think part of this is I don't remember things well sometimes (although I'm great at trivia) so I need to keep doing interesting things or I don't feel like I've done interesting things.

Like looking at people's profiles, so I "surf" OK Cupid a lot

I’m really good at

Reading people. Figuring out who to connect to whom in various contexts. That's what I do for a living now. Someone I used to go out with said I massage egos for a living. I combine that with schmoozing to find opportunities to massage the right egos and make a living.

Pretty good at figuring out how things work. Got a couple of engineering degrees (University of Florida and University of Southern California) and an MBA (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor), so I've kind of got the background to look at things and figure out how they work. I don't feel comfortable if I can't figure out how something works.

Taking care of my close family / friends. Want to get even better at that. My best friend since junior high school died recently under questionable circumstances. In one sense, there was probably nothing dodgy about it, but in another sense he didn't need to die and I think about what I could have done to have prevented it. It really struck me.

The first things people usually notice about me

No idea. I have grey eyes, so I guess that's kind of different and noticeable. Dad has blue eyes and mom has green eyes. Clearly I'm a mutant.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I mostly read non-fiction books. Lots of current event books to better understand what's going on in the world. Get my fiction fix through movies and TV mostly.

I like just about every type of movie and watch them a lot. Have a good collection of "movies for guys who like movies", science fiction, comedies, horror, etc.

Scifi and horror movies with bad-ass female leads are cool and a real turn on. The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Summer Glau as the protector Terminator), Aeon Flux, UltraViolet, Resident Evil, etc. I have this fantasy about after a hard day of killing zombies, terminators, and other assorted bad guys (or if she's just the ruler of some out there society), I'm brought into her cavernous bedroom be her pleasure slave and cater to her every sexual desire and she says, "If you please me, I may let you live" (OK, that's from the movie Heavy Metal)

Watch TV a lot, but mostly movies and news shows. Watch some series (e.g. 24) and will get the whole year on DVD for the ones I like a lot so I can see the whole series.

Not real exotic on food ... pretty much meat & potatos. I'll pretty much eat any kind of meat though. Weirdest thing I've eaten has probably been either aligator or bear meat.

My close friends and family

The Internet

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to have more fun and have a "better" life (whatever better means :-)

How I got a "less compassionate" icon below ... I'm pretty frickin' compassionate dang it! Particularly after spending three weeks at my parents place taking care of my dad before and after open heart surgery!

On a typical Friday night I am

Either at home hanging out with the dog (she's good company and keeps me safe from evildoers) or out at some group event with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

It's been so long since I've had sex that I don't remember who gets tied up first

I'm on a radio talk show about one week out of four

My more recent friends are normal, but my long-term friends from back in high school are kind of intense. But they've never killed anyone (without getting approval first) and they've kind of mellowed ... it's been ages since they've shot up a hotel room.

Won't give any more without an interrogation session :-)

You should message me if

You like my profile and/or just want to chat. I'm pretty open to talking to anyone.

In terms of whether you'd be a good match with me longer term, most of my friends are in their 20s and 30s. I've never been married and haven't had children. Doesn't help to have gone to college for 11 years and then have been in a business where you typically commute to another city four days a week for 10 years, but I am where I am (I don't travel like that anymore). So probably someone late 20s or 30s who has never been married and hasn't had children is the best match for where I am in life.

Anyway, probably too much information on my long-term interests. I'll talk with anyone interesting.
