My self-summary
Hello! I'm Nick. Nice to make your digital acquaintance.

I'm a recording engineer, as well as a lifelong musician (a bassist). Aside from my skills in the classical and jazz genres, I am also an avid metalhead. I like to find ways to play all three genres at the same time.

I'm an unabashed nerd, in a variety of ways, and I definitely embrace that side of myself. Feeding my thirst for knowledge is something that is very important to me. However, I sometimes find myself reading about random things, instead of reading what I should be reading. It can be annoying, but usually ends up being fun.

I'm a textbook empath, aside from the fact that I am usually not sensitive to little things, and remain composed for the big things. I'm the most extroverted introvert you'll ever meet, and I've found the right balance of the two.

I am a tried-and-true philomath. Coincidentally, philomath is also one of my favorite words.

I try to eat right, and take care of my health, but I am also a total foodie. I tend to find that those are at odds with each other, and I have a stocky figure as a result. I get a decent amount of exercise at work, so I suppose it balances out.

I'm a passionate person, and I very much enjoy talking about and sharing the things I find fascinating or exciting with others. I likely will do just that on a first date. It's how I get comfortable with someone I'm first meeting, and how I generally bond with the people I care about. I'm just as interested to hear about your passions, and share that excitement with you.

Communication is a big deal for me. Mostly because I talk a lot. I enjoy small talk, because it helps me understand how you handle life's little details, and I have no problem with chatting the night away. When I text, I'll ask how your day was, and what you were up to, because those details are important to me.

I hate dating cliches and buzzwords like "spark" or "chemistry". If you think I have a stupid nose, or whatever, just tell me like an adult. Don't use them because you think they'll spare my feelings. I will give you the same courtesy, and have a lot more respect for you.

To go along with my previously mentioned passionate side, I have no problem sharing my feelings and emotions, in the right situations. Life's too short to not say what you feel, and I don't have the time or patience for people to be closed off with me. I have a lot of respect for people who are tactfully open about themselves, and aren't afraid of the truth, no matter how much it can hurt (though being honest is best when you can be helpful and constructive about it too - no one likes callousness or insensitivity).

I'm originally from Virginia, but I'm not a southern guy, aside from my taste in food, and my relative intolerance for cold water at the beach.

If you put weight into things like this...I'm an ISFJ, right on the line with I and E, with extroverted tendencies in the right situations and environments. Also not a pushover, and can handle most criticism and weirdness that comes my way.

I am witty, genuine, and random
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as an A/V Tech for Resorts World Casino in Queens, doing live sound and other assorted tech work. Eventually, I hope to teach music/recording arts at the university level, work in film/tv/video game production, and/or be the sound engineer for a major venue or theater. I'm hoping that, if I play my cards right, I can achieve at least one of these in the next five years.

I have a Bachelors of Music in Double Bass Performance and a minor in Jazz Studies from Christopher Newport University. In May, I'll be finishing my Master of Music in Music Technology at NYU.

I'm also trying my hand at being a video game streamer. I like having a legitimate reason to play games regularly!
I’m really good at
Performing/writing/arranging/recording music, video post-production, computers, photography, random/useless trivia. I plan my spontaneity.
The first things people usually notice about me
...or so people tell me, my eyes. They're hazel/green in the colder months, and bright green in the warmer months.

I have somewhat of a goofy laugh. It was described to me once as "...the most simultaneously genuine and fake belly laugh ever."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: original Star Trek movies (1-4; 6-10), Three Stooges, Marx Brothers, Jackass (all), Training Day, Baseketball, Indiana Jones (except Crystal Skull), Braveheart, The Patriot, Road House, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Books: The Martian, Outliers, cheesy action novels, Wuthering Heights, Grapes of Wrath. I need to read more often.

Music: Mostly everything - no modern pop or contemporary christian, some country is good - Dream Theater, Periphery, Mudvayne, Vertical Horizon, The Reign of Kindo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jaco Pastorius, Dave Holland, Charles Mingus, Christian McBride, and Dave Brubeck.

Food: Natural citrus/berries and citrus/berry-flavored foods, chocolate, sushi, cheese. I have a particular fondness for Italian, Mexican, and Asian cuisine.
The six things I could never do without
Contacts/glasses (I'm blind without them).
My basses/guitars/drums
Recording gear/microphones (this includes a computer)
Family, friends, and the good times they bring.
A camera (still or video)
Lip balm (I have dry skin, so this is a must have)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music, science, technology, my future, video games, money, bettering myself, funny/random stuff
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, typically. 'Tis part and parcel of the audio industry. Though, if I'm not working, you can typically find me watching my favorite streamers on, on Netflix, working on my own music projects, or having a beverage with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a sucker for blue and/or green eyes, and freckles.

I enjoy watching/listening to ASMR eating/drinking videos on YouTube.

Sex/kink, and body positive. GGG. Feel free to ask about those.
You should message me if
You don't consider three dates, over the span of a month, to be "rushing" into a relationship. Please don't be a commitment-phobe.

You believe that a partner should balance and enrich your life, and not "complete" you. I want you to be your own person.

You're a girl who reads:

To paraphrase a bit from the writer Sarah Jones (and because I very much agree): I want a woman who is smart, strong, and is their own person - who has dignity and won't give it all away. I want a woman who values self-containment, self-reliance, and self-empowerment. Beyond the physical, THIS is what I consider sexy.

You are also a sensual person, and actively crave sensuality.

Your baggage meets airline size requirements.

You are an amazing conversationalist, or at least appreciate great conversation (even if you're a quiet type), and you aren't afraid to talk about big topics.

You're intelligent, emotionally and mentally mature, intellectually curious, honest, kind, genuine, open-minded, and know what you want (and aren't afraid to go for it). Nerdy/geeky is a big plus! Musically-inclined people too!

You are great at communicating your thoughts and feelings in general, but especially when it comes to more sensitive topics like sex (and what I can do make it better for both of us).

You can be legitimately turned on by listening to someone sharing that really cool thing that they read about, saw, or did today.

Some great advice, on dating, and life in general.

I like it when a woman takes the initiative to message me first, so don't be shy. If you're still reading, would like to know more, and/or meet up sometime, the send button won't push itself!
