My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Not a bro or a dude. I'm kind of a music nerd.

I'm kind-hearted and soft-spoken, but my fun/wild side is just under the surface and comes out of hiding without much provocation.

I like dressing up...most of my clothes are vintage and, yes, my pants might be skinnier than yours...just sayin'. Sometimes I put on a tie just to go to the store.

I always strive to be a better person.

I'm looking for someone to go on some fun dates with for a few weeks/months/years/infinity.

I'm not online as much as OKcupid thinks...I just have trouble signing out from my phone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My 12+ year long career working in Human Services is, unfortunately, coming to an end (yes, I'm still employed) due to a long, slow burnout and I'm now writing the rough draft of the next chapter in my life. I have a new direction and I'm actively working towards my next goal (update: I'm back in school for the first time in about 20 years!). In the meantime, I'm enjoying my life during this "in-between" time, enjoying the personal growth that I've done over the past 6 or so years and looking forward to a new career in the future.

When I'm not working or doing homework, I keep busy by hanging out with my friends and family, band rehearsal and deejaying unless I'm staying in then I'm usually watching a movie on Netflix or reading...or writing an email to you.

I'd like to do more hiking and camping.

So far, I haven't done a lot of international traveling, but after I start my new career, I'd like to do a LOT more.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- calming people down
- trivia of all sorts, but mostly music-related
- spending money on good food and cheap hooch
- not freaking out
- not knowing what to say to you in my first email
- being a fun date
- listening
- i'm sorry, what was that?
- telling stupid jokes
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I scream and swat at invisible bats.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Authors - Flannery O'Conner, Shirley Jackson, Paul Auster, Kurt Vonnegut and about a million more.

Movies - Barton Fink, Smoke, Dr. Strangelove, Zombie Honeymoon, Girl On A Motorcycle and pretty much any music documentary. Also anything with time travel or space ships shooting at each other (i.e. "starship porn").

Music - It would be silly for me to list bands because the list is way too long. I love 60s mod, soul, psych, garage, girl groups and bubblegum; 70s punk, post-punk and power pop; 80s new wave and goth; old country; old jazz; 50s-60s easy listening/mood music; 70s/early 80s metal and traditional Irish music...there's more, but I'll do us both a favor and stop there. Oh, and the Bay City Rollers, of course! I pretty much only listen to music on vinyl. I like rekkid shopping and collecting, but am not a Nazi about it.

Food - I'm mostly vegetarian and LOVE fake meat...not necessarily because it tastes good (although some of it is incredible) but because I think it's cute (I like it when an inanimate object tries to imitate another inanimate object). I don't like to think of myself as being a picky eater because that sucks, but I really am. I do, however, love Italian, Mexican, Ethiopian, Indian, Thai and more.

I kinda can't stand television. I have one but I keep it in the corner and only bring it out to watch movies (update…I got rid of that shit). I'm not a snob about it, though, and will sit and watch your favorite show with you although I'll probably cheer for the bad guys, hope the crime goes unsolved or that America's Next Top Whatever trips and falls on the stage or somehow fails spectacularly. Wait, does that make me a snob?
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Six pairs of cheap sunglasses.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Set lists and playlists, punctuation/grammar, my Netflix queue, socialist politics, "All the places I don't want to go and all the things I don't want to do like India and getting my teeth cleaned."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably at an oldies dj night hitting people with my elbows on the dance floor (not intentionally). Or behind the turntables making other people hit each other with their elbows.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Oh, I'm willing to admit all kindsa stuff. Confessions are fun.

I went to therapy for about 6 years. I stopped last spring, but it kinda rocked my world and I'm glad I did it.

Although I identify as straight, I'm very much queer-friendly and consider myself an ally of the LGBT&Q community. I guess this isn't something private.

I like spooky, macabre things.

I'm pretty set on having kids once I finish school and enter my new career...which won't be for several years. So, if you're not one for doing the kids & family thing, we might not be a long-term match. Short-term, maybe!

If you have a cat(s), that's awesome. However, you'll need to know that, although I love cats, I am allergic to some, but not all. I've also lived with cats and been totally just depends.

Every single night, before I go to bed, I get down on my knees and thank god, I'm a secret agent man.

I recently went to a monster truck rally...and I liked it.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Well, if you feel like we have a lot in common (music, fashion, world view, etc.) or if you can think of any other good reasons. (i.e. I'm easy, just send me a friggin' email).
