I am witty, funny, and myself.

My Self-Summary

Hello! I always hate these things because it's really annoying to try to encompass an entire person in a little box. But, here goes: I enjoy writing and reading. I read and enjoy those old, boring books they usually have to force people to read in school. I read contemporary stuff as well, though. I have long hair, although my pictures don't really give that away. I'm pretty funny. (Or so I'm told) I'm also very sarcastic, but in a funny way. I love irony in everything. I enjoy online gaming. My interests are pretty broad. I'm extremely non-photogenic. I get along with just about everybody. I can sit around with college professors and BS and laugh and talk about intellectual stuff or I can sit in a dark bar with a few people and talk about things that are absolutely intellectually devoid. Anywhere in between also applies. I can be a very, very social person, but I can also be a major hermit. Some days I can't stand the thought of sitting at home. Other days I'm irritated by the thought of doing anything but shutting the blinds, opening a bottle of wine, and writing. I can be easily swayed one way or the other, though. Except when I get on a tear. Sometimes I kinda HAVE to write. =/
I'm not as nerdy as I seem, though. I used to build houses. I did large scale construction for a while. I've been a carpenter. I worked in the oil fields. I've worked on several assembly lines building heavy machinery. I know how to get my hands dirty. If there's something wrong with your home, I can probably fix it.

What I’m doing with my life

I work full time for a college in southern California. (It's not as impressive as it sounds.) I really like my job. I recently went back to school and I'm hoping to obtain my masters in English and teach at a college level. I've also been pouring a lot of energy into my writing. I get along with just about everybody.

I’m really good at

I don't want to say writing again. Video games? lol Conversation. Mixing drinks. I'm really good at making people laugh. (My mom's husband once told me I'd make a great bartender) I'm not a bad cook, either.

I dunno. I'm fairly good at a lot of things.

The first things people usually notice about me

My... erm. I dunno, I'll have to ask someone.
What did you notice?
I've been told I have nice eyes. For some people, my hair.

(btw, as a guy, women don't tend to walk up to me and say, "The first thing I noticed about you was ____." Maybe this happens for women. I see tons of cheeky comments about breasts in this section. Sadly, it's probably true. Unfortunately, no one walks up to me and says, "The first thing I thought when I saw you was, "OMG, look at those forearms!" Probably a good thing too, or I'd feel like Popeye. =/ )

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. I enjoy most of Palahniuk, Hemingway, Vonnegut, Steinbeck, and Clive Barker.
Currently sitting on my coffee table:
-For Whom The Bell Tolls, Hemingway
-Slaughterhouse-5, Vonnegut
-Cat's Cradle, Vonnegut
-The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway
-Farewell to Arms, Hemingway
-A Movable Feast, Hemingway
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Kesey
-Juliette, Marquis de Sade
-American Psycho, Ellis
-Moby Dick, Herman Melville
-Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, Tom Robbins
- a large coffee table book on Diseases
(Have read or am currently reading them all) =/
also: yes, there are a lot of *^&$ing books on my coffee table. =P And although most of those are classics, I occasionally delve into the world of nerd-dom and dive into LOTR or other fantasy novels. Those are just the ones I'm either in the middle of or can't seem to put on a shelf.

I love outrageous comedies and black comedies and those strange, deep thinking movies. I also like zombie movies. It's good research for when the zombie apocalypse actually happens. I know, I know, that's a pretty broad statement. (Except for the zombie part) =/ I'm pretty easy when it comes to movies, but if a movie just flat out sucks, I get irritated. I love old movies. When I say old, I mean like 40's and 50's. The 80's still doesn't seem old to me. Gregory Peck is my favorite actor of all time. Closely followed by Jack Nicholson. I'll watch anything either one is in... repeatedly.

Music is really broad. I listen to everything from Classical to Dimmu Borgir. Sinatra to Muse. Seriously, just about everything. Earlier I was listening to Pavarotti. No joke. I've lately been listening to a lot of Tom Waits, Muse, Blind Guardian, Oingo Boingo, NIN, and George Michael. Wait, wtf, did I just say George Michael? (Guilty pleasures ftw)

I swear... just cause I like Hemingway and Steinbeck does NOT mean Im a masoginistic bastard..... honest! (Julie speaketh the truth!)

The six things I could never do without

A computer, a book, a job, the ability to write, someone to talk to, and ... ... wow, I can only think of five. *shrug* Oh!!! My forums buddies. They make my days livable.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

People and what makes them tick. Why things work. Why thing don't work. I'm very interested in why people do what they do. Human behavior is fascinating.
Also, whether or not I'm ever going to actually finish my book. (I'll be quite happy if one day I can change this to, "Whether or not someone will publish my book." =D *crosses fingers*)

On a typical Friday night I am

Thanking God that it's Summer and I don't have to work Fridays. Running around with friends. Sometimes, sitting at home reading a book or playing games. Some nights it seems I just can't stay inside. Others, I just really don't want to go out the door. I don't think I have a "typical" Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I tend to laugh at really inappropriate moments. Seriously. I not only laugh when I'm nervous, but I find strange, disturbing things darkly humorous. Also, I've kissed a boy and, contrary to the song, I didn't like it.

You should message me if

You feel like it. I'm pretty open. Have a question? Ask.
I enjoy meeting people.

Also, if you're the nerdy type. You are my people.
