My name is Derek and I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in Mass Communications. GO BEARKATS!!!!! I consider myself to be a movie and television junkie. As many people will tell just about any situation will make me think about (and quote) a movie i watched. I consider myself to be a sarcastic and cynical person though I admit I am a sucker for the "laughter is the best medicine" philosophy. I like to believe that I have a good (though mostly deadpan) sense of humor and that I am mostly tolerated by the general population. Well, that'e me in a nutshell. Also,

I moved back home after I graduated and help out around the house and also help take care of my niece so that my sister can go to school. I hope to one day make a living as a TV technician or a movie critic.

My "unique" personality, my interest in movies, sometimes I squint like Harry from 3rd Rock From the Sun

Books: Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Of Mice and Men, Count of Monte Cristo, Ordinary People

Movies: I have a lot of favorites but the ones that stick out are The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, L.A. Confidential, Goodfellas, The Departed, Ed Wood, Almost Famous, The Truman Show, Serenity, Harry Potter, pretty much any movie by Pixar, Quentin Taranantino, Frank Capra and Billy Wilder [bonus points if you know the last two guys :)]

TV: The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Castle, Doctor Who, Firefly, Futurama, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead

Music: Daughtry, Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down, Switchfoot, Five For Fighting but I also enjoy some country christian rock

God: I got saved shortly before my seventeenth birthday and I have been working to improve myself in my faith ever since. I still think I have a lot to learn
