I fixed my friend's turntable with superglue--when later selecting
a side for his raging farewell party, I recognized that I had
served my purpose. In the end they'll ask me to list my
contributions and I'll smile sublimely. Because I'm reserved on the
outside but musical on the inside: I'm an insatiable listener and
affective companion--I believe that nothing matters but those who
are given to us to care for. I love to meet others like me who
present a mild yet literary face to friends, but whose waters run
deep. (Albeit their John Waters.)
What I’m doing with my life
Having trained in cinema I now work as a software engineer for a prominent open-source Linux distribution.
I travel a lot for work, weddings, and bike trips--lately to Malta, NYC, Oakland, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Wisco, Hannibal, Mongolia, Boston, Israel; soon to the UP, Croatia, New Zealand, etc.
I work from home and it's driving me crazy--please invite me out to some kind of unusual activity which gets me away from a terminal :) .
I’m really good at
thrifting, spatial reasoning tasks, identifying songs, not planning anything at all, driving in total darkness, sounding like a baseball play-by-play announcer, lighting parties, the crossword, lying down in public places, leading toasts, fixing cars, making omelettes, operatic renditions of Adele songs, KARAOKE.
The first things people usually notice about me
I regularly draw the "silver fox" reference ;) . . . .
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Super-eclectic tastes, especially in cinema; meanwhile I confess to watching Game of Thrones, Hannibal, and Deadwood at a gallop. I cook but not in a sophisticated way: an inherited crock pot has become an enduring legacy. Meanwhile sushi is a regular pleasure, but I'll confess to needing an invitation to our fav restaurant destinations. If I'm trawling for Cocteau Twins videos on youtube at like 2 AM it's actually a good sign :) . I've nearly completed Swann's Way for the first time and I've recently joined a "book and film" club--what would you read/watch if you were a member?
The six things I could never do without
Volvo station wagon
new albums to spin over and over
I spend a lot of time thinking about
making a Cindy Sherman project out of this profile. . . .
If I needed to go on a pilgrimage, where would I want to go?
how my recollection of song lyrics provides continuous evidence of the unconscious for any thought I'm about to have. . . .
On a typical Friday night I am
. . . doing something about which my friends will giggle with a
scandalous toss of the hair, "so typical!"
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not fully down with the Enlightenment
You should message me if
you'd describe yourself as 'non-declarative' and you'd like to talk
about the film we just saw for a few hours.
you like guys with tattoos and piercings but would settle for a guy
with no tattoos and no piercings.
