My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Sassy lover of life, I try to find passion in everything I do and focus on being a good person first and foremost in my life. I'm not afraid to try new things, to embarrass myself, or to fail. In effect, I love life! There are always things to fix and change, but I love waking up everyday to the challenges, adventures, and people in my life.

I spend a lot of my time outdoors searching for new mountains to climb, vistas to explore, and things to do in the city. I am slowly visiting every park and hiking trail around the bay, but there are still a few left to explore.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Biking around the bay, baking delicious treats, running, finding and trying new events around the city. You can usually find me heading across the Golden Gate Bridge on weekends or making my way up some mountain.

Love traveling (I do 4-5 international trips a year) and am just preparing for a trip to Helsinki, Finland and then Oslo. I travel light (carry-on only for weeks at a time) and my favorite spots are Vienna, Austria and Okinawa, Japan.

Originally from Seattle, I’ve spent a lot of time in Boston and DC before coming to SF. I spent the first half of my life in academia, working on making large scale health problems easier to study and treat. But, after my post-doc I decided to try something with more mass appeal and more time for a life outside of work. I have a great job that affords me oodles of creative freedom developing new hardware/software devices to make people's lives better/healthier. It's a fun job and afford me great freedom, but I love my life outside work more :)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Not giving up easily. I love trying things that kick my butt and getting better at them, and some of the things I'm best at I used to be terrible at, but I never gave up trying to improve.

Case in point, after being ejected from my kayak a dozen times underneath Snoqualmie Falls, I learned how to make the white water run on my 13th try. I was bruised, slightly bloody, and exhausted but very very happy :)

I don’t embarrass easy and (with the right people) I love going dancing (salsa/tango/swing/lindy). The secret to dancing is realizing everyone else is just as nervous as you are and the few really judgmental people aren't worth your concern.

I enjoy flying sailplanes (gigantic winged planes with no engines and no parachutes), photography, crafting, wood carving, theater, dancing, hiking, camping, kayaking, and exploring the bay area sun in general.
The first things people usually notice about me

That I am easy going, tall, and usually have a smile. I often end up chatting with random people I meet around the city.

I call 'soda', 'pop' and people seem to love that in CA. I also occasionally call a drinking fountain a bubbler.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Currently reading some Arthur C Clarke and some Albert Camus. I have a Good Reads account to keep track of good book suggestions... :)

My favorite painters are Edward Hooper and Egon Schiele.

Music: Usually techno/dance/ambient music (Armin Van Buuren/Daft Punk/Williamson/etc), out dancing it's usually pop or salsa/jazz/swing music; in the car it's NPR or pop music.

TV: Psych, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Venture Brothers, Dead Like Me, Veronica Mars, Fringe, Chuck, Simpsons, Star Trek, Top Gear, Burn Notice, Dexter, Eureka, Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Archer.

Just watched "Jodorowsky's Dune" a documentary about a transformative movie that changed the way science fiction movies are made, even though the movie itself was never made :) I dig passion and Jodorosky's crazy passion is fun to watch on screen.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The complex nature of life and the world we live in, how simple differences give rise to complex societies and phenomenons. And whether toast is better with cinnamon and sugar or just jam.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There's no real typical night, next week is the symphony. Half the time I'm actually in bed early so I can get up early on Saturday for some outing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I used to do capoeira, can play the Berimbau, and sing somewhat decently in Portuguese.

I enjoy getting dressed up a lot more than my every day casual nature would suggest.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
A list of requirements always seems a bit egotistical, so if you're relatively awesome feel free to message me :-)

Please don't message me if you are mean to waiters, cashiers, small animals, and other people. I'm really not into that. Don't be a douche canoe :D

If you don't mind running about the park making chicken noises and having fun, you're awesome and I hope to hear from you.
