I am passionate, reliable, and sarcastic.
My Self-Summary
My name is Brian. I'm a 20 year old student at
WVU, living in Morgantown and working
part time at
Red
Lobster as a host and bar tender! I love my co-workers, they
keep me laughing and it's a new experience every time I go in
there. Classes are boring, but what are you gonna do? I'm a triple
major: BS in Psychology, BS in Nursing, and a Multiple Disciplinary
studies. I plan on getting my BS in Psych and my MDS in 2011 and
then finishing my Nursing degree. I am taking (as of Fall 2009);
Arabic 101, Psych 232 (Psychology of the Cinema), Statistics 211,
Religion 233 (Islam and Near Eastern Religions), Intro to Scuba,
Psychology 202 (Psychology as a profession), and I took a delayed
care first aid class. I have four
American Red Cross
certifications!
I know my purpose in life is to save others. It's what makes me
happy. I plan on putting my nursing and psych degree into good use
by working in a psych ward or a trauma center. The MDS is for
kicks...but maybe working in the state department if I get tired of
nursing. I am also thinking about getting my masters in nursing by
going through a CRNA program...*ching ching*
I'm doing diverse degrees for a reason, just incase I get tired of
one thing, I can switch to something completely different. I doubt
I'll get tired of nursing, but you never know. I might be more
interested in counseling that nursing and get a masters to be a
counselor.
What I’m doing with my life
Like I said I'm at college and working, I don't know what I want to
do with my degrees. I want to possibly work as a nurse in a psych
ward somewhere, but I would love to be an Ambassador which is where
my MDS comes into play. There isn't a Middle Eastern Studies major
at my school, so I'm making one. A MDS is three minors: I am in
religious studies focusing on Middle Eastern religions, Political
Science focusing on international and comparative politics of the
Middle East, and when the program is in fully swing I will get my
minor in Arabic. I will have the language, culture/religion, and
politics.
I am thinking about joining the state department as a Foreign
Service Officer. It's an entry level position that most people
initially take when they want to be an Ambassador.
This December '09/Janurary '10 I will be in
Africa on a service-learning trip with my
university and in March I will be in the
Middle East!! I can't wait to go to
Africa, I'm buying all my Christmas presents there and shipping
them back...or maybe putting them in another suitcase and paying to
fly it back...whichever is cheaper.
I’m really good at
I'm good at looking things up online. Not kidding. Lol, I know a
lot of people can use Google, but I'm the master. If you can't find
it, I'll find it in less than 5 minutes. It just depends on the
topic.
I'm excellent at providing suggestions for friends like youtube
videos, songs, books, movies, etc. If you give me some main
criteria, I can give you some suggestions.
I'm pretty good at cooking, except pancakes....I always ruin
pancakes and it upsets me. I try and try and try but my house just
ends up smelling bad and then I have a trashcan full of pancakes
that are inedible.
Hmmm this is all lame stuff. I'm pretty good at being lame. (Yes!!
something else to add to my list!)
The first things people usually notice about me
How tall I am. I'm only 6'0" but to short older ladies, that's
really tall and they usually point it out. Not that it's a bad
thing but it's kind of annoying. People usually notice my sense of
humor once they talk to me. I'm very sarcastic but it's all in good
light.
People always tell me I seem tense, but I'm not. I'm one of the
most laid back people you'll find. I'm way accepting of other's
opinions, views, etc. and there is almost nothing you can tell me
that I would be shocked about. I'm a live and let live kind of
person...if I seem tense it's because I'm nervous or excited about
something, but once you get to know me you'll find it's not my
normal thing. I used to be really shy so meeting new people isn't
that easy for me, but once you're no longer a stranger to me I'll
open up.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Too many to mention! I'll list my top three of each!
Books:
They Cage the Animals at night - Jennings Michael Burch. It's a sad
book but it is really empowering at the same time. It's a true
story.
Twilight Saga - Stephanie Meyer. I love these books for so many
reasons. If you want to know more as to why or what they're about
(besides sparkling vampires) just ask!
Anything by Nicholas Sparks. He is such a great author.
I know those aren't 3 books, rather 1 book, 1 series, and 1
author...but that just goes to show how many books I like.
Movies:
The Goonies!!! A movie from the 80's about this group of kids who
try to save their neighborhood from a country club.
The Newsies! It's a Disney movie with Christian Bale. It's a
musical based at the turn of the 20th century and based on a true
story.
A Christmas Story! A holiday classic that is on all of the TVs in
my house from 8 pm Christmas Eve until 8 pm Christmas day.
You may be suprised Twilight and New Moon aren't on here...well
they're two of my favorites, but the ones above are movies I
watched as a kid and still watch.
Music:......okay I can't do a top 3 here way too many to choose
from!
Edit (11/24/09) I'll give you 3 artists...Justin Bieber, the Glee
cast, and John Mayer. I used to hate John Mayer but my friend got
me into him.
Food: Fajita Burrito, Coconut Shrimp, and Buffalo Chicken!
The six things I could never do without
Family/friends - my biological and chosen family are some of the
most important people in my life.
Food/water - obviously I would die if I didn't have these
Internet - it's my main mode of communication behind face to face
conversations. I don't like talking on the phone but I will if I
have to.
Starbucks - it helps me get through my classes
My car - I have to drive to work and I live 2 hours away from home.
Without a car it would be a lot harder to get around town.
Cellphone/service - I hate when I can't make calls/text!! Ugh,
living in the boonies sucks!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future. Making plans is something I like to do! Usually they're
just me dreaming, but I do make some serious plans as well.
I like to work out intricate details of my dreams like owning a
restaurant/cafe or a trip to Europe (which I REALLY want to do!) or
other things like that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably working!!! If I'm not working I'm home relaxing and
enjoying the fact that I am not standing on my feet for
hours.
Sad but true.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am a boy.
I'm a pretty private person, although I am open about most things.
I like to know who I'm telling things to before I start telling my
life story.
You should message me if
You can send me a message for anything! I would love to get to meet
more LGBT people in the Morgantown area. I don't know many people
out here except some people I've befriended from class and work so
I really want people to hang out with.
