My self-summary
I come off as mild mannered and sweet but deep down I'm also independent and passionate about the things I believe in. Adventure and challenges have been a big part of my life. I've traveled and lived all over the globe and found that I enjoy many perspectives on life and living. Its always been part of my nature to care about the animals and people around me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm enjoying my life and creating a balance between work and play, and finding time to kayak, garden, hike and learn new things. That being said, it's always a work in progress to keep things going and taking time to enjoy life.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at looking objectively at things in my life and making the best choices instead of asking why things fall out the way they do. I make plans and see them through to completion. I'm good at connecting with kids. I can bring most half-dead plants back to life and grow big veggies in my garden. I'm good at making a last minute plan to do something because it sounds like fun.
The first things people usually notice about me
I hear I have a nice smile and that I'm friendly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm always reading a book and mixing it up between fiction and non-fiction. I could spend hours at Powell's just looking around.
music: bluegrass, Latin, old rock and roll
food: Indian, Mexican, vegetarian
favorite movies: Blair Witch, anything with Johnny Depp, Chocolat, foreign movies, British historical content.
Books: children's picture books, art history, non-fiction about sea life
The six things I could never do without
my family (thank goodness for them!)
great food, beer and coffee in my neighborhood
the great outdoors!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about travel plans for the summer and how many times I'll go kayaking and camping, why there are random acts of kindness and random violence, why people are judgmental and what motivates them. And on a more serious note, why some flower petals are sticky.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm relaxing with friends who love to cook or going out and enjoying the weather in an outdoor cafe. Sometimes its a planned evening listening to live music or watching a movie and other times its walking my dog to a local hang-out to meet up with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Yikes, I'm not going to bare my soul here. Okay, it does say, "willing to admit" so it would be that I love hiking and camping by myself.

You should message me if
You're sincere and funny. You'd rather take a hike in Forest Park than sit and watch TV (besides I don't even own a TV). You're active and in good shape and you're a nice guy.
