I get Colin Firth a lot as well. British == actor guy.
I am an excellent book-matchmaker. Give me a book you want to read, and I can recommend you something.
I read less now I have the interwebs, but reading (and generally absorbing every last drop of knowledge I could) was a huge part of my life as a kid. The local library made a special award for me when I graduated because I'd read two thirds of their stack, and it mattered to me more than every grade I ever got in school.
So, with that in mind:
The book that did my head in at 10 was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
The book that did my head in at 12 was Dune by Frank Herbert.
The book that did my head in at 16 was Godel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstader.
The book that did my head in at 21 was Peace by Gene Wolfe.
The book that did my head in at 25 was Life During Wartime by Lucius Shepard.
The book that did my head in at 30 was Distraction by Bruce Sterling.
The book that did my head in at 35 was Blindsight by Peter Watts.
The book that haunts me at odd moments is Mind of My Mind, by Octavia Butler, (tied with The Sheltering Sky).
The book that has had the most impact on me is Hardcore Zen, by Brad Warner.
The book that I'd like to have the most impact on the world is World on the Edge: How to Prevent Environmental and Economic Collapse by Lester Brown.
The best book is Ficcones, by Jorge Luis Borges.
My favorite book is the one I am reading.
Movies
Triangle, The Innkeepers, Battle Royale, Primer, The Descendants, Ruby Sparks.
Shows
Bill Hicks, on his Relentless tour in England. Louis CK, Chris Rock. Tim Minchin, Maria Bamford. Banksy. Oh, you mean TV? Game of Thrones. Mythbusters. That's about it. (Well, The Daily Show, but in SF that's like drinking good coffee -- it'd be extraordinary if you didn't like it.)
Music
There are some songs that stick in the head, but when people talk about music, they're really asking about cultural subgroups. I started off with Tori Amos / NIN when I was 18, moved to PJ Harvey and Blur, had a Poe moment, then had my mind opened by KEXP and started pulling in everything from The Books to The Delgados to Versus to Dessa. These days I'm probably listening to Songza or rewatching this video obsessively. Or this one. Or this one. Or this one. Or this (NSFW) one.
Noms
Pulled Pork Sandwich from La Chacuterie. Espresso from Blue Bottle. Sun dried tomato pesto from Caffe Delle Stelle. Dogfish IPA from Place Pigalle. Black Maple Hill Bourbon. Millionaires with home made sloe gin. Thick slices of fresh bread just toasted lightly, with melted butter and marmite. I'm thinking hard about the Crunchy Frog from Les Ros.
1) Sunlight. Preferably direct sunlight (see 3).
2) 8 hours of sleep. Still working on this.
3) Walkies. Exercise is good, but just being mobile and outside is better.
4) Social interaction. Not intellectual -- it's a grooming thing.
5) Regular meals. Blood sugar spikes are bad. Breakfast and espresso a must.
6) Projects. Must be doable, sensible, and challenging.
More practically, I'm probably thinking about what a "secure by default" programming framework looks like, and how to encourage "secure by default" programming practices.
This bit got too long, so most of it's in the journal.
I have learned that I am in the 1% of SF OKCupid users that doesn't love watching Wes Anderson movies, reading Murakami, or travelling to different countries. Honestly, a little baffled by the broad appeal they seem to have.
Of course I say that as someone with three passports and about 12 different countries in them, so: America is my favorite foreign country to travel to.
