I am curious, impulsive, and intuitive.
My Self-Summary
"The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he
wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything." - Friedrich
Nietzsche
So, everybody says they hate these things. I'm going to skip that
part and get straight to it: I'm 25 and have lived in a lot of
different places, but I'm a Jersey girl at heart. I have a passion
for animals, and quite a few live with me -- so if you're allergic,
you should probably stop here. I'm saving relatively unsuccessfully
for both a backpiece and an Alaskan cruise. I have a bit of a
gypsy's soul -- I love to travel and explore, even if it's just a
long drive to nowhere. There is nothing I don't want to see, and so
much out there I want to experience. I go to the Reniassance faire
every year, regardless of which state I'm living in. I am dying to
go skydiving, and also interested in taking flying lessons. I still
watch cartoons. I believe nothing compares to live theater, and
also love dance and live music performances (that would be
everything from the ballet and symphony to small venue concerts). I
read voraciously. I love classic car shows, bowling, and
camping/backpacking. I have a written list of long- and short-term
goals for life, to keep me focused on things I'd like to achieve. I
try really hard not to lie to myself, and likewise I won't lie to
you. I live by the motto that life is a thousand times too short
for us to bore ourselves (or, if you prefer Palahniuk to Nietzsche,
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must
never, ever be boring.").
"Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be
asked not to hit it at all." (also Nietzsche)

I’m really good at
I'm good at all kinds of things...Cooking, listening to friends
even from thousands of miles away, reading your tarot cards or
doing your astrological chart, making stock trading concepts seem
simple, absorbing new information like a sponge, getting the
impulse to move or change something major and following through
with it, surviving the tough times and letting what doesn't kill me
make me stronger, empathizing, talking, listening, believing that I
can do absolutely anything and then proving myself correct...
The first things people usually notice about me
Different people tell me different things -- I hear what a nice
smile I have pretty often, other times it's other things...
I've also been known to be pretty goofy, and I am not easily
embarrassed. So occasionally what people first notice is that I'm
rocking out at karaoke or dancing to the music in the grocery
store, or (worse, for some) serenading friends just about
anywhere...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: fiction and nonfiction alike -- books on nutrition, natural
health, social science (history, sociology, political philosophy
and psychology); as for fiction, Great Expectations (with the
initial ending), Wuthering Heights, Animal Farm, The Giver,
Hitchhiker's, His Dark Materials, Where The Wild Things Are, Alice
in Wonderland, and Night. I love anything by Jodi Picoult (The
Pact, Tenth Circle, Plain Truth), Palahniuk and Chad Kultgen, and
am big into poetry -- Bukowski, Neruda, Akhmatova, Dickinson,
Cummings, D.H. Lawrence, Tennyson, Ehrman...I'm always open to
suggestions!
Movies: The Princess Bride (always #1, regardless), Devil's
Advocate, Fallen, American Psycho, Empire Records, Descent, The
Others, Dead Alive, Donnie Darko, The Departed, Boondock Saints, 12
Monkeys, Airheads, Edward Scissorhands, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Kung
Fu Hustle, The Lost Boys, Dead Alive, House of the Flying Daggers,
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, anything Jason Segel, Seth Rogen, Tim Burton or
Johnny Depp had a hand in...okay, obviously there are a ton of
movies I love. I can never remember them all.
Music: my mixes are very, very diverse and I'm open to being
introduced to anything you listen to. I jump around from country to
rap to bluegrass to reggaeton to punk to songs from musicals and
Bollywood movies, mixed up with some girl group greats, some hits
by the Irish Rovers, some metal and rock, acoustic and folk, and
pretty much anything I want to listen to. If I like it, I like it.
I don't listen to the radio often, I listen to my mp3 player,
mixes, and Pandora.com.
TV: I find reality TV shows to be like trainwrecks, and I can't
tear my eyes away. I call them my sociological studies, in order to
justify this to a lot of friends who don't watch any TV, or watch a
lot less than I do. For actual shows, though, it goes like this --
The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother (which I find to be
highly underrated), The Closer, Deadliest Warrior, Mythbusters, the
CSI franchise, the Law & Order franchise, The Soup, The Office,
Dexter, Burn Notice, and So You Think You Can Dance, which is my
unabashed favorite show, for a lot of reasons.
Food: I'm open to new foods. I love Italian food, I love West
Indian food (have you ever had curried potato in a roti wrap? if
so, we need to talk now!), and I love to eat my fruits and veggies!
I'm interested in and learning a lot more about raw and vegan
cuisine. I love to cook, and I love to bake; I especially like
doing both of these things for others.
The six things I could never do without
1. Good Conversation (it's like a drug to me; I love talking to
people, hearing about them and learning new things)
2. Stimulation (psychological, spiritual, emotional,
physical)
3. My car (she and I have been through a LOT together, and she's
stuck it out with me through it all)
4. My computer (it's how I make my living)
5. My friends (they have never let me down and have been with me
through unimaginable things)
6. My pets (I feel a deep affinity for and connection to my animals
and animals in general; yes, I'm one of those chicks)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people think there has to be a dichotomy between serious and
fun, in terms of relationships (as in, why do people assume
long-term relationships have to be safe and boring? Does that not
become a self-fulfilling prophecy?). Why people think "may you have
an interesting life" is a curse. The future (and how much better it
will be than the past), the market, the state of the world,
nutrition and good health, my friends that are so far away, where I
will ever feel like home...
When I'm not thinking about that, I contemplate taking a class in
ju jitsu or capoeira.
Also, I think about how funny it is that someone who got her degree
in Political Science got the personality label "less political."
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing any number of interesting things. I don't have a typical
life, what can I say?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
To each his own: I prefer a burning bridge.
------------------------------------------------------
There is a wolf in me,
fangs pointed for tearing gashes --
I keep the wolf because
the wilderness gave it to me, and
the wilderness will not let it go.
You should message me if
If you've made it this far and actually read all this. Or if you're
in the vicinity of Greenville, SC and want to tell me awesome
things to do -- I'm new here. :-P
Also, I like people with things to say, with good stories, with
life experience to share and wisdom to impart. I love a good
conversation.
