What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Daydreaming. And I am currently writing what I hope will be my first published novel.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
playing pop songs on the piano by ear, applying winged eyeliner, identifying bit players in pre-code Hollywood films, caramelizing onions, and making amazing mixes.
The first things people usually notice about me

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Kendrick Lamar, Emika, Clara Rockmore, Betty Davis, Flying Lotus, Leoš Janáček, The Shangri-Las, The Chameleons, and Max Roach.

I love Tarkovsky films and the first two Alien films to about the same degree. I also have a penchant for both classic old Hollywood films and the random pre-code 1930s trash that they show on TCM at 4AM.

I regularly watch more than one show on The CW, which should probably tell you everything you need to know about my taste in television.

I like Italo Calvino and books meant for 12 year olds.

Food-wise, I'm happy to try anything once unless it involves un-pickled cucumbers. I love sashimi, New York-style pizza, anything involving avocados, curry, and so on. And a glass of pinot noir is always nice.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
e minor, train windows, red lipstick, saudade, umami, dissonance
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the concept of nothingness, what modern music would sound like to Bach, ideas for television shows and films, American high schools in the first half of the 20th century (I collect antique yearbooks), the feasibility of dropping everything to professionally restore historic houses and buildings (feasibility is currently quite low considering that power tools still scare me)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you need a concert partner or if you want to start a band or want to talk about films and literature over coffee.

And definitely if you are a time traveling David Byrne from 1977.
