I am Ben, a dandy lad, and you're not.

My Self-Summary

Whoops. I'm not really responding to anyone at all right now. I'll be back, I'm sure.

I'm a shitload of fun. Brash, loud, and forthcoming. Never afraid to be the brunt of a joke, whether it's mine or others'. I pretty much wear what I think about everything on my sleeve. In neon. With a PA system attached.
But I can be one way socially and another way at home. I can be very subdued and introspective at times. I mean, you've got to just catch your breath sometimes.

That said, I can overthink anything. I'm trying not to do that so much.

I write for a living. I love punctuation. I am fully aware of how nerdy that is.

I like things that dorks like. I would not necessarily classify myself as a dork, though. Maybe a little...

That personality test I took on this site doesn't quite know me. I took it again, choosing differently on the questions that had poor or vague wording, and it got even worse.

"All men are frauds. The only difference between them is that some admit it. I myself deny it."
-H. L. Mencken

"Nothing is true. Everything is permissible."

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working at a job I love furthering my newfound career, and trying to just be myself. I am immersing my self in my friendships and taking the advice of Al Swearengen to heart. Maybe keeping myself a bit aloof.

I’m really good at

Talking. Laughing. Making grilled cheese sandwiches, white pizza, turkey chili, and I swear I make the best beer brats in the city. Or some of the best, at least. I like to have a good time. Karaoke is fun, too. I shoulda been a rock star.

The first things people usually notice about me

My voice, probably. From across the room.

My fine taste in impromptu pocket squares?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I liked The Cheese Monkeys, and also The Rule of the Bone. Murakami. Neal Stephenson is super fun when he doesn't get to didactic.

I love Chinatown, and Blade Runner, too. Chris Walken movies. Early Guy Ritchie.

Beatles Rock Band is so awesome. So's regular Rock Band.
I went to the High On Fire/Converge/Mastodon/Dethklok show, and it would have been so great if it hadn't been at the shitty Aragon.
Queens of the Stone Age is a band to whom I can almost always listen. The Pixies as well. And Led Zeppelin. Lots of things, really. Try me.

I want to go eat some oysters. Right now. There's a little French place I love in this town. Hot Doug's is impeccable. And I know of several places that make great burgers.

Jesus, I sound so list-y in these boxes. I don't talk like this, I promise.

The six things I could never do without

First: Arbitrary Hierarchies
Second: Ordinals
Third: Some sort of way to get around more quickly than walking; one of my cars or my bike
Fourth: I'm quite fond of my phone, except when it becomes too demanding... maybe I should say I'm fond of my phone's power button
Fifth: The Em-dash
Sixth: Delicious meats: bacon, steak, etc.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Weird things. Dorky things. Zombie invasions is an example of both.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with good friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'll think about that. I'm really open, but usually I'm better at this kind of thing in person, or when prompted with a question.

You should message me if

You feel like it.
