I am a line stepper, mind-grape blowin', and slicka than your avg.

My Self-Summary

I'm an aspiring writer of fiction and poetry currently living in Washington DC, my hometown. I enjoy writing, reading, listening to good music, going to live shows, seeing good movies, swearing, dry snitching, a good beer or cocktail, playing board or card games, cooking or having a great meal out. I'm a fan of the absurd, both real and imagined. I also consider myself a good listener and giver of good advice, solicited of course. I can see the humorous side of almost every situation.
I'm here to meet new friends, possibly meet someone to date, because in real life, I'm pretty reserved when it comes to meeting new people. I'd like to meet people who share my interests and could possibly turn me on to something new. You should be passionate about life and what lies beyond cubicle nation.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working on completing my first novel as well as a collection of short stories. Also trying to finish at least one of the games in the Grand Theft Auto trilogy, but mostly I'm reading and writing. I've finished forty typed pages of my novel which if you're a writer also you know it is a Pretty Big Deal (tm).
I've just started a paralegal certificate program. I'm looking forward learning about the law and hopefully getting into a real career. It's been a long time coming for sure.

I’m really good at

Making people feel better with humor, cooking, singing along with the radio, predicting who's going to win the game, giving dudes the Wrong Idea, picking the right music to create ambience. Also, I'm a closeted pinball wizard. I do kick-ass dream interpretations also.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile. And my voice has a tendency to carry, so maybe people notice that...?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Lately it's been all about books about writing with some classics thrown in for good measure. The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Line of Beauty, The Joke, the Tales of the City series, Maybe the Moon, A Widow for One Year, The World According to Garp, If You Want to Write by Brenda Ueland, The Brooklyn Follies by Paul Auster. He's officially my literary hero. Just finished Push by Sapphire; there's a book that makes you grateful for your own life right there. Right now I'm reading Norton Best American Short Stories 2008, edited by Salman Rushdie - there are so many treasures in this volume.

Movies: Singing in the Rain, Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting, The Pillow Book, Les Diabolques, Fight Club, Doubt, Rachel Getting Married, Pineapple Express, Doubt, Milk, Hot Rod, Rebecca, Marnie, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Muriel's Wedding, Jarhead, Anchorman, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, American History X, Amadeus, American Psycho, Igby Goes Down, Rogers & Hammerstein musicals, The Simpsons Movie, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood, Punch-Drunk Love, Talledega Nights, Smiley Face, Ronin, In Bruges, American Gangster, Carlito's Way, Scarface, The Chronicles of Narnia (it was everything Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell said it would be)...

Television: 30 Rock, The Office, SYTCD, 60 Minutes, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Boondocks, Intervention, Drawn Together, Brothers & Sisters, Friday Night Lights, Law & Order (ching-ching), Adult Swim, Nightline, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan, Jimmy Fallon (he's adorably awkward in his interviews), Weeds, The Wire, The Shield, The United States of Tara, Glee (run over to Fox now and watch it, for real), Community....I unashamedly own all 4 seasons of The OC on DVD. Who knew it'd be so relevant in these times?

Music: Lately I've been on a pop/electronic kick so it's been all about Lady Gaga, Goldfrapp, Roisin Murphy, Moloko, Bjork etc. I also like Interpol, REM, Liz Phair, Tori Amos, Lil Wayne, Beyonce (in spite of myself), Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ludacris, M.I.A., QOTSA, U2, Depeche Mode, Imogene Heap, Jem, Sleater-Kinney, Pixies, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, Fiona Apple, The Strokes, Frou Frou, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Rufus Wainwright, Jill Scott, Floetry, Blur, Pulp, The Verve, Michael Jackson (Long Live the King), Carole King, The Ravonettes, Pixies, Breeders, Belly, The Cardigans, Garbage, Julian Plenti, Paul Banks' alter ego. I like to listen to Pandora to discover new music to love.

Food: If it's spicy I'm down. Thai, "Chinese," Japanese, good old Southern food, Italian, Caribbean. But I have much love for breakfast foods; nothing like a good waffle or short stack. Lately I've been cheating on meat with more salad and vegetables. Don't tell, meat gets crazy jealous...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life's deepest, most penetrating questions. Like, will I ever get the nerve to contact my Quiver matches?

On a typical Friday night I am

..down in the park with a friend called 5.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

One time, I got so baked I tried to make a long distance call to Hell. I think the operator was high too because she said, "Sheeet, from DC to Hell is a local call."

Alright you got me - this is a lie. Everyone knows the only way to reach Hell is via text message. Standard text messaging rates apply.

You should message me if

If I at least made you giggle a little as you read my profile. You should also message me if you have a clear idea about what you want out of this whole OKC thing - I'm not DTF FYI, OK? (Note: if you cannot spot tongue-in-cheek, then...wow, just wow) Both non-judgmental men and women are encouraged to send me a note and of course, writers of all kinds are welcome.
