My Self-Summary

Hello You,
I am easy-going, almost always with a smile, and able to think of a way to put most things in a positive perspective. (I love to find the silver lining in the clouds.) I love my hometown, Cleveland, and am hoping to move back someday. I'm very outgoing once I know someone well, and need to make more friends in Detroit, so I can be outgoing here too. I love to juggle a bazillion projects at once, and have an unusually short attention span.

I am a nerd about classic children's lit., public policy, and walks in the Metroparks. I am on a quest to keep myself young at heart. In the event I do turn into an old maid someday, I have a plan (which involves plenty of colorful parrots, a sun hat, and bright mumus)...I also tend to be pretty sarcastic, but I laugh a lot to make up for it.

What I’m doing with my life

I graduated in Aug 06 with a degree in urban studies at CSU. I loved the program. Now I am in Ferndale, working for an Americorps non-profit doing fund raising. I am very lucky, and love my job. I am passionate about peaceful national service, and I work every day to make it possible for young adults to serve their communities and county full time without having to pick up a gun.

Other than work I can be found walking my dog around the neighborhood, at Scottish country dance, or swing dance, and occationaly out gothing. In the winter months I spend a lot of time indoors watching movies in a pile of blankets :P and I get a whole lot of sleep... usually.

Oh, I was raised catholic, converted to Unitarian Universalism, and moved on to Atheism, with a splash of agnostic in me on days when I could use some support and am not finding it anywhere else than in my imagination.

I’m really good at

Sleeping, organizing people, making vegan cakes, Scottish country dance, getting a room of 100+ kids quiet, singing along with music (I know the words, can't really say that my voice is amazing), being a sister. I'm a decent swing dancer with an emphasis on blues dance, and generally making a fool of myself on the dance floor with good friends.

The first things people usually notice about me

The only thing I have ever heard on the subject is this "You seemed so quiet when I first met you." .... guess that means I became loud huh..

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The six things I could never do without

six things that make me happy:
1. Mo (the dog) 2. Family and Friends 3. Blues dancing 4. AmeriCorps, and the Peaceful National Service Movement 5. Blues dancing 6. Cuddles!!

six things I wouldn't mind if I never saw or heard about again:
1. Lord of the rings, both book and movies 2. Slave chocolate 3. Dead Bugs (I have a strange phobia) 4. Hummers, the idea of them gets way under my skin 5. Numbers (I'm dyslexic, but only with the numbers) 6. Lady pants that don't have pockets.

six things that really should be in my life more:
1. Good friends in Detroit 2. Public Transportation (I miss the RTA in Cleveland 3. Cuddles!! 4. Time for more sleep and more dancing 5. New and interesting things to do, New experiences 6. Time and money to travel

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Cleveland, national service and specifically City Year oh, and "How I can get everyone together at the same place at once." and "When is the next nap?", My trip down the road to old-maid hood (with the birds and the mumus), when I can go dancing next, the environment and my footprint on the world.

On a typical Friday night I am

Dancing, if I'm lucky enough to not be exhausted. Sometimes watching a movie, cleaning, playing board games. It varies a lot.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a stumpy left thumb...

not good enough? ..... hmmmm...

In order to be more environmentally friendly, and save money. I have switched my monthly lady routine from the usual products to the Diva Cup, and I can't believe I wasted money on all that crap for this many years. Ladies who end up on this profile...let me tell you that the Diva Cup rocks!

You should message me if

I love to talk with people, and I'm a newbie to Detroit and Michigan, so I would love to get some great friends in the area. So if we could get along don't be afraid to say hi.....

ps: I have a guy (philentropist) who I'm a little crazy for. We're doing the whole poly open-relationship thing. So I'm not all ball-and-chain tied down or anything. Just putting that out there in case it helps you decided one way or another whether to talk to me. Later Gator!
