My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to think of this site as a cool social tool to run into people. There are some wonderful people in my life now that I would not likely have otherwise met and that's what makes it all fun :-) That said, my preference is to interact in person and I view this profile section simply as an opportunity to open a door to explore further if an interest arises.

So here are some thoughts that come to mind - perhaps they'll provide some insight to my style and what I enjoy...there are many aspects that are well rooted like my values and love of life.....and there are other aspects that evolve as I explore and grow.

I like to dive into life - and I like to sit back and observe. I find myself smiling a lot - and I love to laugh. Sometimes something beautiful can bring me to tears and sometimes something somber can generate a feeling of deep serenity and joy.

I consider myself open-minded and enjoy the new things I discover when I (or others!) challenge my perspective.

I'm raising an amazing daughter who always makes me smile. We grow, laugh, and learn together. She's almost 12 yrs old and full of spirit and wisdom. There is so much we can learn from children.

Relationships are central to my life. I am privileged to enjoy wonderful family, friends, and colleagues. I enjoy intimate connections and do my best to always be present, kind and honest with people in my life (and everyone I encounter). Life is a wonderful journey - I've come to realize that none of us walk this journey alone (though it may feel like it at times) - and there are those magical times when someone special walks along with us providing mutual support and having fun with it all! When I meet someone, and feel a mutual trust and warm connection, I'll open fully to that person and know that when I do I'll experience something beautiful and fun - and along the way we'll learn if it has the potential to lead to something enduring.

Things I enjoy:

I enjoy riding my bike! I'm fearless on a bike and love to find that perfect line down a windy forested road!

I enjoy taking early morning walks and photography; I'm inspired by nature and people.

I enjoy bold red wines, exquisite chocolate, a perfect latte (working on latte art as part of my morning ritual - not as easy as it looks!) and wholesome cuisine. I enjoy rich textures and warm wool slippers, stimulating conversation, reading, getting together with friends, opposing perspectives, and finding humor in everything (especially myself!) ...and quiet time.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Raising a beautiful and spirited daughter and being the best person I can be. I'm a scientist by training and work as a project manager in drug development. I've followed my passions to carve out a path that is highly fulfilling - I really do get to play and be creative every day in my job (ok some days it's not immediately obvious that I'm playing but it's all a matter of perspective!). I feel incredibly fortunate for the opportunities I've had and have, and try my best to pay that good fortune forward (kind of like the suspended coffee tradition of Naples) whenever I can.

Recently re-inspired to get out on my bike more.
Balancing my life well, simplifying, and paying attention.
Creating images.
Expanding my appreciation of the arts and all SF has to offer.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
caring for people, laughing, listening, thinking outside the box, and being open and honest

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: I love to read. Some favorites are The Alchemist and all of Paulo Coelho's work, Siddhartha, The Little Prince, An Unquiet Mind, The Buddha Walks into a Bar, Mark Helprin books, The Solitude of Prime Numbers. I'm fascinated by human nature and enjoy books that speak to the human experience.
Movies: Foreign and Independent Films and Documentaries - basically good stories told well without relying on all the Holiywood special effects - a few that come to mind: Searching for Sugar Man - A BEAUTIFUL story at so many levels, The Intouchables, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Music: My music preferences are broad - it all depends on my mood. I've recently starting playing (with) the guitar and love it - progress is slow and that's part of the fun in some ways.
Food: Wholesome, humanely and thoughtfully raised and grown, simple, thoughtfully and creatively prepared. All cuisines. My only true aversions are peas and cooked carrots (scarred from childhood!) and red beets.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
people - my daughter top of the list!
the Earth
all that comes from the Earth
all that sustains the Earth
that's about it!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Being present to whatever it is I'm doing! I often find myself composing images from life as I observe it, with or without a camera. I relate well to the scene and beautiful monologue in 'American Beauty' when Ricky Fitts films a plastic bag dancing in the wind;

" It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. Right? And this bag was just dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. That's the day I realized that there was this entire life behind things, and this incredibly benevolent force that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with my daughter or with a small group of friends, going out for dinner or a show in the city, having deep and playful conversation (not mutually exclusive), heading out for the weekend, enjoying a yoga class or meditation sitting, or enjoying time to myself reading.
