I am quirky, crafty, and cunning..

My Self-Summary

I am a bicycle-riding, book-reading, music-playing teacher who enjoys the little things in life, prefers to ask questions rather than have them answered, and whose last non-vegetarian meal was a surprisingly delicious hotdog from Speedway. I constantly rearrange my living space, don't hang my clothes up when I should, and babysit even after a long day so I can sketch nude people in my spare time (i.e. take a life drawing class). I am a firm believer in loving what you do and doing what you love, and this has guided most of the major choices in my life so far.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a special education teacher at a local public charter school, and I currently also teach 4/5th grade science. I'm an artist and a dancer as well.

I’m really good at

walking on my hands, cooking by smell, crossing a creek, balancing, and multi-tasking.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes or my rapier wit.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
Dostoevsky, The Little Prince, Iris Murdoch, The Logic of a Rose, Toni Morrison, Milan Kundera, Flannery O'Connor.

Music:
The Ukele Recordings by Hellogoodbye, John Butler Trio, Weezer, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Edith Piaf, Louis Armstrong, and other banjo-pickin' goodness.

Movies:
Amelie, Pan's Labyrinth, Coraline, Tim Burton, Jurassic Park, Alfred Hitchcock, ridiculous old sci-fi, and period classics.

Food:
The good vegetarian kind and of course, curry!

The six things I could never do without

my bicycle
music
being outside
family and friends
traveling
books

I spend a lot of time thinking about

teaching, my city, and moving to a new city.

On a typical Friday night I am

at an underground music show, hanging out with friends, at an art opening, or other radical activity.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My favorite song of all time is the Monster Mash. I could listen to it on repeat for a whole day and maybe longer.

You should message me if

you are not a loser.
