I am creative, smart, and strong.

My Self-Summary

I am an urban environmentalist... intersted in restoring local waterways, alternative transportation, gardening, and generally living in a way that good for the planet and the neighborhood. I am an artist, an illustrator, a published author, a blogger, a bicyclist, a gardener, a reader, a baker.

Also, down to earth, compassionate, smart. Good with kids. A sensitive guy, good listener.

What I’m doing with my life

I work freelance right now - doing various projects for local environmental non-profits - mostly writing. I also do some freelance art/illustration.

I’m really good at

sketching, lettering, baking bread, conflict-resolution / consensus-building, telling stories...

The first things people usually notice about me

I am a big tall muscular athletic guy - 6'3" tall, 260lbs built like a football player (I swim, play ultimate frisbee - keep fit)... but I am actually a pushover - gentle, not physically intimidating at all really.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

authors: Primo Levi, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Alan Moore, Wendell Berry, Arundhati Roy.

some movies: Delicatessen, Do the Right Thing, Sugar

some music: Terry Callier, Van Morrison, Pogues, Nick Drake, Los Lobos, Sylvio Rodriguez.

food: avocados, tangerines, tiramisu, fresh bread

The six things I could never do without

I am perhaps overthinking this... I can imagine scenarios where I could do without these for a while: sketchbook, bicycle, garden, friends, meaningful work, and another thing that I will have to come back to.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

how to make re-make cities more livable, what to do next on projects/campaigns I am interested in...

On a typical Friday night I am

varies a lot... with friends, movies, group bike rides, games or solo pursuits - art, reading, finishing some work that I've put off.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

hmmm... I will come back to this one.

You should message me if
