I am irreverant, smart, and pensive.

My Self-Summary

I always struggle to write these. Everyone who's read one of my descriptions has told me I come off as cold and like someone only looking for sex. This is entirely not who I am, so I suppose I'll take another crack at writing this thing...

I like to work with my hands, whether it is fixing things or making something new or whatever. I can play guitar a little, too.

Also, I study mechanical engineering at FIT, and I recently moved there to make that commute a lot easier.

My favorite advertising slogan is "Playdough: fun to play with not to eat". I think it says a lot about the children of today, and it makes me laugh every time I hear it. I could totally understand this being a warning on the box, but it's actually their catchphrase on all the commercials...
I'm not really a partying type, so when I am with a girl I like, I usually prefer to do quiet activities, like talk or go to the movies, or whatever. I can occasionally be convinced to go somewhere with lots of people, but I get uncomfortable after a while. I really just like spending time together with someone I like. One of my favorite things is just to watch tv and cuddle.

I don't like to talk about feelings. I don't appreciate having people batter at my walls, either. If I choose to share, it will be my decision. Think of my personality as a non-newtonian fluid. Look for a video from the show Time Warp about these, if you don't know what they are. I'm sure it's on youtube or discovery channel's website somewhere :)

So, as I said above I've been told it comes off like I'm only looking for sex. To be perfectly honest, sex doesn't mean much to me at all. This is not to say I'm not physically affectionate, but penetrating you is not the first thing on my mind when you receive a message from me. If fact, it's probably pretty far back.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently a student of mechanical engineering at FIT. I'm a junior, so I've got 4 semesters to go. The reason I'm a few years behind my peers is because I simply wasn't ready for college at 17. I went for a year, did horrible, and went off to be a mechanic for a while. After a few catalyzing events in my life, I decided to return to school full-time last year. And here I am. I strongly believe that my technical experience will be a strong point on my resume in future engineering jobs.

Outside of that, I spend a lot of time just hanging out between classes in the library. I used to play WoW, but I think I've been logging on for about 2 hours a month the last 3 months.

Lately, in my spare time, I have been working on my Honda, which I just painted. Now I'm trying to find the funds to do the rest of the fun things I want to it.

I’m really good at

I can be really good at anything, if I put my mind to it. I'm a very fast learner.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. I brought long hair back to Florida. When I came back in 2003 I was the only guy with hair past his ears, and now copy cats are all over the damn place.

Before school started, the odds were pretty good that, if I were out in public, I was with my grandma. So, people tend to notice someone who looks like me towing an 85 year old woman around.

I tend to make a lot of eye contact when I listen to someone.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books- Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe, A Brief History of Time, the Sword of Truth series, Up Country

Movies-Donnie Darko, Requiem for a Dream, Watchmen, Taken, Borat, Superbad, Bruno, District 9. I love Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. The story is dumb, to be sure, but it actually had real drivers and cars instead of just filling the movie with bad CGI.

Music-Offspring, Metallica, Tool, some other random rock, and anything incredibly inspired. Though I suck at guitar now compared to when I was 17, I like to think it colored my perception of music. I've really been digging Three Days Grace lately, despite them being quite conventional. I just kind of like the way it flows.

The six things I could never do without

1. A modified car. I strive to be unique, and a car is a good expression of this, if you do it right.

2. The internet. A safe haven for all the introverts of the world

3. TV. Sure, I only watch 5 channels, but I like the white noise. I get a kick out of seeing the same story repeated with different characters. I like musing about why there are no original ideas out there anymore, but I can't help enjoying seeing the same crap regurgitated 100 times.

4. Having my wits about me. Pretty much the only aspect of my life about which I am a control freak. I refuse to do drugs or drink, but I don't really care if other people do. As long as it's not an obsession.

5. Math. I may not use equations for everything, but it really can all be described, I think. Except a few things that come down to randomness, but that all comes down to the nature of the universe, quantum theory etc...

6. My ability to count. There are, after all, three types of people in the world. Those who can count. And those who cannot.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

It may sound existentialist, but I've always wondered if an infinite number of universes exist, like on that old show "Sliders". If there weren't, it would be a shame to have all the potential in any single given universe go to waste. I'd rather imagine a reality in which wasted opportunity is gainful in another reality, leaving the entire pan-dimensional arena in a constant state of arithmetic averages. Or maybe that's just my way of not feeling guilty every time I don't give a homeless guy change.
Also, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how things work.
Oh, and since I was a mechanic for 2 years and have an AS in automotive tech, every time I drive past a car in dire mechanical condition, I wonder how the driver would react if I told them just exactly how dangerous it is to drive in that condition...It isn't normal for your wheels to be pitched at 30 degrees of camber. The tires will pop.
I also wonder what people think when they read my profile.

On a typical Friday night I am

Well, until this week I would have said playing trivia at the Draft House in PSL, but after a week of school I just wasn't in the mood. So, typical from now on? I have no idea. Studying?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm totally into being a switch. Figure it out. I'm not talking about lights.

You should message me if

If you think saying things like "I like sunset walks on the beach with candles and incense." is cheesy.

If you can understand a dry sense of humor. Think Stephen Colbert, but not as awesome.

If you understand the concept of math jokes, whether you understand the actual joke or not.

If you've ever seen a bumper sticker and thought to yourself "I'm glad you advertised that, because you saved me the trouble of wondering whether or not I'd like to get to know you." You know the stickers I'm talking about...

If you've ever tried to make something with your hands or if you've ever wanted to. I will show you how. I like to think I can figure out a creative solution to just about any crafting problem, including electronics (though that can be cost prohibitive). I love to work with my hands.

If you like sunset walks on the beach with candles and incense.

If that made you laugh.

If you've ever been curious about anything I've talked about on here. Just ask. I'm very accessible. If nothing else, I am always looking for a conversation with like-minded individuals.

Aside from that, if you're looking for babies or marriage, close the FUCKING window! I do not want to hear from you. I'm 23 and in school. Marriage is the last thing on my mind.

That said, I am not opposed to long term relationships. I'm just not looking for one. If it happens, it happens :)
