My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've lived in Austin, Brooklyn, and now Echo Park, which makes it sound like I'm checking off a list of hipster enclaves. Perhaps I've been subconsciously trying to cancel out the first 17 years I spent in San Antonio, the capital of lameness. (Go Spurs!)

I'm half-Mexican by birth but was raised a gringo. Don't speak Spanish and Mexican food gives me gas. Basically a Mexican't. Just glad I got my German/Irish father's height. I tower over my Mexican side of the family. Last time I visited them for Christmas, everyone said it looked like I got taller. I think they just got shorter.

I take LONG walks through the city. Echo Park, Downtown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Silverlake. I stop and take the time to smell the neuroses. I'll head down that terrifying alley if it looks like there's a brilliant dash of street art hidden back there.

I love biking, hiking, camping, and getting lost. I'm way behind on watching movies and TV shows because whenever I have time to sit still, all I want to do is read (both trashy thrillers and heady philosophy) and write (scripts, poems, songs, bad puns).

I've fallen in love with LA over my 14 years here, although the one thing I miss is thunderstorms. I'm convinced that even if someone hates LA, I can show them parts that would make them love it, too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've spent this year losing 40 pounds. I'm in the best shape of my life. I feel 10 years younger. My friends are amazed at how much better I look.

I write jokes for the radio and work in reality TV post production. Current gig is a political documentary for the Esquire Network. (Yeah, I didn't realize there was an Esquire Network, either.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Eliciting laughter.

Pub trivia.

Storytelling. (Update: Won Moth Storyslam on 2/17/15).

I'm really excellent at fifth dates -- so even if our first four dates suck, you need to stick with me, because damn, that fifth date is going to rock hard.

I've always thought brown eyes were supposed to be boring, but I've gotten compliments on mine. Also, I have nice lips. My screenname is based off my (unwanted) nickname in high school. It was used as an insult back then, so I'm taking back the night, in a roundabout way.

I'm an old school Stephen King fan. Just got his new one, Revival. Other favorites include John Steinbeck, John Updike, Paul Auster, Philip Roth, Jonathan Franzen, Michael Chabon, Haruki Murakami, Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk.

Only see about one or two a month. I like sci-fi and arthouse. Loved Birdman. Greatly enjoyed 1/3 of Interstellar.

Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Meet the Press, Jeopardy.

Rock and/or Roll.

Eating healthy now. Brussel sprouts ftw.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A creative outlet. An electrical outlet. Outlet malls. Inlets. Omelettes. Regrets.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to get you out of my dreams and into my car.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At a comedy/art/music show or, most likely, a birthday party. Maybe going to bed early so I can get up at 8am Saturday to hike with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I enjoy romance and I've had a couple of great love affairs, but I would probably be just as happy if I end up being single for the rest of my life. That's how much I enjoy my own company (SPOILER ALERT: I'm an only child.) I kind of relate to Burgess Meredith in "Twilight Zone."
