My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
This week i agreed to help my friend out by digging a hole for a swimming pool with her husband. We are unearthing old bottles, bones, strange ruested metal contraptions and trying to unearth the trunks of massive tree dead tree trunks. After one day of digging, I am wondering how this kind of thing is actually accomplished, because I am pretty sure its not done with two guys, 2 shovels, and 1 wheelbarrow...

Lately: yoga, hiking the mountains and canyons just outside LA (if you consider Runyon Canyon "hiking" then go away), doodle, draw, paint, clone. Photographing for fun and for work. Camp. wander lust, wander lust, wanderlustlustlustlust. 2014: In February was on a trip that went from the wilds of Komodo to snow-coated Japan, Hawaii in June and far Nor Cal for redwoods and pot farms in July, Tonga in August to get in the water with humpback whales, and New Zealand in September. Redwoods in October. 2015: 19 days in Hawaii during February to paint for a huge mural festival, and then swimming with sharks a bunch. Became obsessed with national Parks. Went to Sequoia 3 times in 5 weeks and still wanted more, but then i had to go to Utah for Zion, Bryce, and Arches. Drove up to the Redwoods AGAIN (Humboldt county is insane.<3). Then drove myself to Portland, stopping off at Lassen, going to Mt. Hood, getting lost in the Gorge (Hard NOT to want to move to Oregon if you visit it in early summer - in fact, i am going back again next week). Then Mexico in August to photograph whale sharks. Then Japan in November. Get me to take you somewhere after that? partial to road trips this year (only because 2016 already has a lot of international travels planned).

I like discourse. I LOVE the ocean. I like hugs and kisses. I like astronomy. I love technology. I hate technology. I like shavasana. I like historical fiction. Once I get back from a long trip, I am happy to be home in LA, but within a month or two I am itching to get out again and do so.

(I like parentheticals)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Buying camping gear. Making Negronis at home for myself. Drawing and painting. Traveling too much for fun. Photographing people underwater. Hitting the yoga studio more than usual so i can legitimately change my body type to "Fit" for you OKC people (yes I realize this misses the point of yoga, haha).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

Drawing bunnies.

Cuddling (especially with poisonous sea snakes!)

That i am soft spoken as fuck. When I first went to Japan my future in-laws assumed i was gay because i did not speak like a drunken cowboy. Somehow my voice is stuck in bedroom mode, 24-7. let's go some place quiet, please?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
- Wild Trees, The Golden Shore: California's Love Affair With the Sea,, Sex At Dawn, The Omnivore's Dilemma, Sy Montgomery books, An Angel at My Table, Malcolm Gladwell (particularly the Outliers), Atlas of Remote Islands by Judith Schalansky, The Color Purple, Daniel Clowes, The Hunger Games Trilogy (guilty pleasure - are these books for kids? I don't know but i have a soft spot for TOUGH female heroines), Erik Larson's books, historical fiction about the lives and machinations surrounding the building of European cathedrals (now how is that for a specific genre!? Seriously though - i can give you my top three if you like)

- Under the Skin (I am not sure I would want to hang with someone that hated that movie - it's the most honest, beautifully anti-human movie, it explains nothing to you. It is film as art). This year has been good for sound/music in film actually - Gone Girl had really unexpected music for the film it was (and think how different the movie might have come across with a typical phony orchestral score instead of the Reznor strangeness), Whiplash was admittedly a music film, but still the music/sound was effective, and speaking of jazz - Birdman had great use of of the music in hilarious ways, on top of being funny and being a virtuoso editing job. Teenage lesbian coming of age movies (now that is a specific genre too), Alexander Payne's films, basically anything with Sam Rockwell in it, Coen Brothers, stupid comedies, smart comedies, sc-fi, war movies (i can never think of favorite movies when people ask). Also, weirdly, i am a sucker for movies with Channing Tatum (whose name my wife and I can never remember, so we took to calling him Chanting Totem, and that what has stuck).

- Jim James, How To Dress Well, iamamiwhoami, Lil Spook, Jogger, Arthur Russell, Growing, Julia Holter, King Krule, Lee Hazelwood, Son Lux, Gal Costa, Phoenix (never was interested in them until seeing how TIGHT they were live at Coachella 2013), Lou Rawls, José James, Beach House, Prince, Susan Cadogan, Baths, M83, Nick Drake, Ashra, Moondog, Tame Impala, James Blake, Blood Orange, Tycho, Growing, Grace Jones, The Weeknd, tUnE yArDs, Sam Cooke, Purity Ring, Nina Simone, The Books, Youth Lagoon, and i also think EVERY rap song should have a cameo by Snoop (take a hike if you disagree).

- Louie (CK is so brutal. Thank god its back!), Nashville (I am the only one that watches this. I am sure of this.), Humans (I found my own artwork hanging as a poster on the bedroom wall of one of the characters - neato!), The Knick, Ja'mie: Private School Girl, The 100, Mr. Robot, Black-ish, The Strain, True Detective, Ballers, The Good Wife, Silicon Valley, The Flash, Girls, Game of Thrones, The West Wing, Sherlock, House of Lies, The Walking Dead, blah blah blah.

-Fresh Air, Radiolab, Song Exploder, The Daily Bugle, TAL, TEDTalks, TTBOOK, Dan Savage, Uhh Yeah Dude, Re:Sound, The Moth, Science Fridays (These are podcasts/radio in case you are lost here)

- At home i basically just eat vegetables and fruits, but i am not a vegetarian. I can't be bothered to go further into this subject (because i love to eat, and have a lot of favorites cuisines and dishes), but lets say I am mildly foodie, and most of the shit that passes for food in this country is frightening. Lately I have found that the food we make at home tastes better than the shit served at those celeb chef fine dining place. Fancy yes, but always over salted and too oily. Except SQIRL Kitchen. (Proper) Banh Mi 4 life though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
the ocean, my passport, other sensualists, sunshine, witty banter, sex
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I seem to find myself giving a lot of unsolicited, albeit informative and entertaining (I promise!) rants about the coming of Singularity. It IS coming in our life time - if you really think you will never have a smart phone (well a smaller more powerful version of one that you will never use to physically "talk" with) implanted under the skin behind your ear that will allow you to communicate essentially telepathically through the internet cloud, then GTFO. All the technological elements are already in existence and Google will implement as soon as chips of the right speed are small enough. Kurzweil is on schedule (Hello - Google made Kurzweil himself their Goddamn Director of Engineering last year!!!!). The real question is - how long do we survive once we reach singularity - i predict about... 30 seconds? The topic is totally entertaining over a nice bottle of wine or two.

Joe Kittinger.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I hate traffic and having to wait to be seated at dinner, so i usually stay home and work on Friday night. Also videos of slow loris' are usually viewed.

For some reason I know the entirety of the Les Misérables musical by heart. I don't know how it was impressed upon my permanent memory, and i don't make a habit of listening to Broadway musicals in the last 15 years, so I can't understand why I still know every word! But if you play it for me I can sing the whole thing through. I sing it poorly, but with so much heart! You will be embarrassed or rolling in the aisles...

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
- You are NOT only looking for THE ONE (I already found mine - think poly, polyamorous, non-monogamous). You need a hiking or yoga partner. If you need a camping partner (I want to camp more!). If you are a scuba diver and want to nerd out about sea animals, diving, or underwater photography.

-You always wanted to be a mermaid and model underwater (this sounds stranger than it is...). instagram: dan.kitchens

Also my actual work instagram: instagram: kozyndan

-Also i don't know many poly people, so if you are one i would love to discuss (even if you and I have zero chemistry ourselves), or if you have a CamelBak and use it.
