Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love the outdoors, and try to spend as much of my free time there
as possible. I'm happiest when backpacking (in the summer) or
skiing (in the winter). I mix other stuff in too, but those are my
passions. I've been trying to take up biking, with little success.
So if you want to take me on a ride, that would be swell.
I tend to be pretty easy going and get along with most people. That
said, I'm definitely an introvert with socially anxious tendencies
and can seem a little closed off at first (this is something I'm
working on). But once I'm comfortable in a situation I loosen up
and let my natural good nature shine through. Someone at work once
even called me gregarious, an adjective I never, ever, would have
thought to use to describe myself.
I think about the world a lot, but in an abstract way, not so much
in concrete, "how can I change things?" terms. I guess spending a
decent chunk of ones life in academia will do that to a person. But
I think escaping that path has been for the better.

Going to baseball games. I loves me my Giants, but am perfectly
happy with the A's as a cheaper, more convenient substitute. This
situation has caused me a bit of existential angst -- I really
prefer the A's and their fanbase, intellectually, but I just can't
seem to escape being raised a Giants fan. 2010 and 2012 weren't

Let's start with food: is it food? If yes, then I probably love it.
Unless it's raisins. Reminds me of line I heard the other day:
"Let's face it, pretty much anything with raisins would be better
with chocolate chips. For example, a box of raisins." Raisins
aside, I love to eat. I'm glad the word gourmand exists, because it
describes me quite well.
TV: I'll just list these. I probably spend too much time with that
glowing rectangle, but think we're in a golden age for good
television. Some of my favorites, in no particular order:
-Battlestar Galactica (just blasted through the entire season again
-Suits, although I think its jumped the shark in Season 3
-Star Trek TNG
-The Office -- the british version and first two seasons of the
Movies: As a genre, I like quotable comedies...
-The Big Lebowski
-Dazed and Confused
-Blazing Saddles (yes, Mel Brooks is a comic genius)
Books: I don't read enough. I'll make that judgment on myself. But
I do love surrealist or austere modern fiction: Thomas Pynchon,
Jonathan Lethem, Jonathan Franzen, Annie Proulx, Cormac McCarthy.
I've been meaning to pick up Infinite Jest for some time. Best book
I read recently was The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach.
