Your Notes
Edit your notesI am confused, quixotic, and determined.
My Self-Summary
I'm always looking for something to do. I'm a goodhearted person. I don't really look for challenges, but I don't shy away from them either. I'm quick to fluster/annoy, but I'm quicker to recover/forgive.
I believe in a world of Positive Good, where the onus is on doing Good Things as opposed to merely abstaining from Evil.
I like my friends, I like having a few drinks, I like losing myself in a project or activity.
What I’m doing with my life
I spent a few years overseas and am having a little trouble laying down roots stateside.
I donate time to a few charities. Assisted Living Facilities, Registering Kids in case of abduction, Milking snake venom to make anti-venom. Whatever.
I’m really good at
Truly, if I had to narrow it down to but one talent, it would be Humility. Not since Moses has there been a more humble man on this fair Earth than I.
The first things people usually notice about me
My dour expression or my goofy smile depending on what kind of day I'm having. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like the Victorian Era. Doyle, Verne, Wells, Stoker, Haggard. And later stories set in that era like the Cthulu Mythos or Tarzan. The language, the propriety, it seems like an alien world that's almost close enough to touch.
Movies:
Black Sheep - New Zealand horror movie about were-sheep. Played so straight that I gotta laugh.
Death on the Nile (1978)- I'm not a big fan of Agatha Christie books, but this is a gripping movie. The characters are despicable but still charming in a way I don't see in too many other films.
Doctor Mordrid - Who knew Jeffrey Combs could be a leading man? Straight up wizards in a modern world tale doing the best their budget will allow.
Road Warrior - Classic. Best post-apocalyptic movie ever made.
Tingler - Solid horror movie. Solid premise. Solid performance from Vincent Price.
Music:
My top three albums are They Might be Giants' FLOOD, Queen's IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC and Violent Femmes' HALLOWED GROUND.
Probably because of early attachment to Tiny Toons cartoon, Highlander franchise and Hallowed Ground just being awesome.
I dig Johnny Cash and Warren Zevon because I love storytellers. I dig Joan Osbourne because I think her lyrics are clever. I dig Aimee Mann and Creedence Clearwater Revival because they're catchy.
I listen to a lot of Country and Christian music because those radio stations have the best music to non-music ratio.
My favorite band, my nerdcore obsession, is Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. I think they have some range, if you consider the Ramones and Black Sabbath to be range. I'm a huge HP Lovecraft fan, but they have enough of that storyteller thing that the songs aren't just references but stories unto themselves. They also do more generic sci-fi themed songs.
Food:
Fast and greasy. I'm up for anything, but I hate sweet potatoes (unless it's soju).
The six things I could never do without
Seriously, I'm a simple guy. I've lived over two years in the third world, and I know how to do without.
There's stuff that's important to me, that can't be taken away, that I'm not sure I can put into words. Talk me and I'll try.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm a big dork and so I spent a lot of time thinking about dork stuff.
I think about beer maybe more than I should. I like new flavors, new textures. My friends and I even brew some of our own.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Moves on; not all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
Omar Khayyam(Early Arabian Mathematician and poet)

I don't like doing the e-message thing. I'm trying to have less of a relationship with my computer, thank you very much.
