I'm flexible, adaptable, patient, laid-back (sometimes a little too laid-back), and nearly always running late. I love to laugh, and appreciate everything from dry British humor (Fawlty Towers or Steven Fry) to the stupidity of Ben Stiller in Zoolander or Mystery Men. I am sometimes messy and have trouble holding onto more than one emotion at a time. I like to think of myself as pretty rational, but I also feel things deeply. I am a recovering perfectionist in many ways, have high expectations of myself and others, but have been reminded over & over how much we all need grace (& not just a little... I'm talking grace by the bucketful...) I don't want to settle for average or OK in areas that I deem to be important (relationships, character, personal growth, etc.) Things aren't that important to me. People are. Relationships are. God is.
If you ask me where my favorite place in the world is, I'll hem and haw for a bit, then tell you I can't decide. A top-ten list would include camping on a sand bar in the Amazon rainforest, trekking through the Andes Mountains, cliff jumping off a 16th century fort in Sri Lanka, surfing (poorly) in Puerto Chicama, Peru (the "longest wave in the world"), jumping off waterfalls in the Golan Heights, hitchhiking and backpacking through Palestine and the West Bank, living in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, working w/ Mother Theresa's home for the dying in Khaligat, sharing meals in the homes of friends (whether that be in Peru, Nepal, Brazil, the West Bank, or Indiana, Ohio, California, or Illinois), or sitting around a dining room table with my family playing games, telling stories, and laughing uproariously. I like to laugh.
