My self-summary
Not your "typical" American girl i suppose-born and raised in Khartoum, Sudan, as an MK( missionary kid), lived there for 16 years of my life and have been in the States for 22 years now- loves God, life, and laughter-i think i have a good sense of humor (some of my friends may say otherwise-ha) "fun", "creative" "kooky" "friendly" "goofy" are some other descriptions that have been applied to me as well..
i know at least 2 languages- English and Arabic-although i'm not very fluent in it, but it sure can come in handy sometimes-i'll just leave it at that! Here's a few fun facts about this kooky girl from Sudan-I was baptized in the Nile, had a pet monkey, have ridden at least 2 camels in my life so far, & gone into the very center of the pyramids in Egypt without getting lost! If there's anyone out there who is as adventurous as me- we will get along swimmingly!
i am looking for someone who loves God, cares for others, knows how to balance life, can make me smile, and knows that
chivalry is not dead! oh yeah, & also will be okay with my slight obsession with all European things!!
What I’m doing with my life
I am now officially credentialed as a developmental therapist in the state of IL! Still loving it and am learning new things as I go..and occasionally having random mr.potato head parts or maybe play dough thrown in my direction - just part of the job!
I’m really good at
Baking pretty much anything, ping-pong, UNO, Spoons(can you tell I lived overseas and didn't have T.V.?!)
making people smile- in spite of themselves-hosting events-fluent in "Arabish"..
The first things people usually notice about me
I definitely do not look Egyptian even though 1/2 of my bloodline can be traced back to the Pharaohs-yep, you read that correctly..
can I walk like an egyptian you may be wondering..of course ;)
besides my somewhat exotic bloodline, I've been told I have a great smile and straight teeth.. i guess those are good things?!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini(The Kite Runner) as well as some of Naguib Mahfouz books..
On the other hand-I am a movie-holic! Just to name a few..all 3 Batman movies, Avengers, Good Will Hunting, all the Bourne movies, SlumDog Millionaire, the Kite Runner, The Lemon Tree, Amreeka, The Syrian Bride, Not Without My Daughter..
As for shows-huge fan of Dexter, Breaking Bad, Downtown Abbey, The Paradise, Larkrise to Candleford, Lie to Me..
I like almost all kinds of music..
You might have guessed that I may like some of the more international varieties..indeed I do! Egyptian, French, Moroccan, along with a little Mumford&Sons, Lumineers& Owl City as well.. ironically I happen to enjoy some of the same food as listed above-not including the last 3 for obvious reasons-as well at Thai, Italian&Indian..I am always looking for new places to try out & Chicago is the perfect place for that..
The six things I could never do without
My answer to this might look different, mostly due to my experience of living here goes
A few things I could very much do without: tarantulas, snakes, getting lost in a dust storm, constant layer of dust on everything all the time, eating food which either had sand or some small bug in it, almost 80% of the time!
6 things I will never take for granted-dust-free air, A/C, green grass, good education, food that has to pass government inspection, freedom of Religion..
I spend a lot of time thinking about
that life is too short-so make the most out of it!
and why my cat chose to eat a lady-bug?! i know..really deep stuff-however on the more serious side, i do really think about:how many children in all parts of the world are orphans because of war, making the most out of life and not taking it for granted..
On a typical Friday night I am
I'd either be out doing something with friends or having friends over, & doing something low-key like playing a fierce game of ping-pong, baking something scrumptious, or hanging out in the tree-house eating ice-cream!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It's been known to happen that when some cultural tunes& I get together, my American side gets the chance to bust a move..hmm ◆◇◆

you find that reading through all this was way too intriguing and utterly fascinating to pass up..ok ok-maybe just 1 of those!
Or, you just want to see if we "hit it off" or are "on the same wave-length"..
you are looking for a woman who will make you laugh, fill you to the brim with a delicious assortment of baked goods, show you the pyramids in Egypt, take you on a cruise on the Nile, go tobogganing in Austria, enjoys the small things in life,& tries to put a positive spin on things...well then, by all means "stop" by and say "howdy!"
