My Self-Summary

Philosopher of life and love, looking to meet other cool people and that special someone. Someday would love to have kids, though selectively not ready for that yet.

Well, I have lots of interests: running, television, music, video games such as World of Warcraft--yes i'm a geek, reading, weight lifting, movies, dancing at Necto, shopping, cooking -- dessert chef in a previous life--, etc.

What I’m doing with my life

Career-wise, trying to wrap up my PhD thesis in bioinformatics and graduate (and get a *real* job). I plan to teach and research at a major institution after finishing at Michigan. I would consider staying here if jobs are available, we'll see.

I’m really good at

Making desserts (ask about my cheesecake brownie), running long distance (half marathon), and making friends with those around me. I'm pretty good at fixing computers and installing Linux in dual- or multi-boot mode (yes, thats geek speak if you didnt recognize it). And strangely enough, I'm quite versatile at fixing/repairing things around the house. Working with Habitat for Humanity a couple of weeks helped there.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm tall? And I'm usually shy at first, but I warm up fast.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Ender's Game, Cryptonomicon, Harry Potter, Abarat
Music: Madonna, Musicals (Rent, West Side Story, Movin' Out, etc.), Evanescence, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Pink, ColdPlay
Movies: anything thats not Western... love scifi, action, drama, romance, comedy, mystery, horror, sometimes indie, etc.
Food: love diverse food... just beware, i cry in the presence of really spicy stuff.

The six things I could never do without

I can usually survive without coffee, more so during my race (running) training when addicted to the endorphins.

Currently thinking about my upcoming 10-yr high school reunion. Scared that I may be the only person from my graduating class still in school, lol.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually at the bar or Necto. I like to stop at the bar and chat with friends, have a drink or two, and then either stay at the bar or head over to necto for some dancing. Yes, I like to dance, and I can get pretty crazy depending on the scene.
