i'm a name-taking, ass-kicking psychedelic nerd fairy. i write a lot, listen to a ton of music, do some art and crafting, don't play my flute as often as i should and have lots of rad adventures with rad people. i care about the world around me and nature, worship beauty wherever i find it, and try to take excellent care of myself while still enjoying sensuality in all its forms. i'm a vegetarian and respect to yourself, others, and the environment is important to me whether or not you share my dietary preference. also i am retarded for cats.

i'm originally from a small town where i grew up outside the city limits, and as my best friend puts it, "Terrace girls don't fuck around." i get my hands dirty and enjoy intense experiences. i really love vancouver and both live and work on main street, if that tells you anything, though i vehemently deny hipsterdom to my untrendy grave.

right now i am a barista and a server, career-wise. i have half of an english literature b.a. dangling behind me like a sentence fragment, and i'm not sure if i want to do anything with it. i am in the process of getting into school for makeup design and special effects, which i feel would be a different kind of creative challenge for me. outside of my practical life plans, i try to spend lots of time with the people i love, doing lots of self-care, as much travel as possible on two wheels, always with a beat in my ears, and creating lots of awesome projects. i just turned 24 and the idea that life is short is nagging at me with renewed importance. as joey comeau says: "live for today, you retarded little shit. the end is near!"

i just realized that that was the second time i used the word "retarded" in what's supposed to be an incisive look at my personality. oh well. my friend serra told me yesterday "the only thing i can think about you that would scare boys off is that sometimes you get drunk and yell about vaginas." so perhaps it's for the best that i demonstrate my sometimes-brashness openly.

super mario 3, especially world 6. i rock at dancing to dubstep and i am pretty good at unintentionally looking like a sexy librarian. i like to paint with words and speak with paint. i am especially awesome at smoking clove cigarettes on my friend's roof and yelling encouragement at bikers. i make totally hardcore lattés and thai curries. non-sequiturs, pointless poetry, outnerding you (and your mom). i'm good at trolling and wordsmithery.

some of my favorite authors are douglas coupland, christopher moore, alan moore and his awesome graphic novels, neil gaiman, robin mckinley, joey comeau, tom robbins, james frazier, and the incomparable j.r.r. tolkein.

some of my favorite groups/artists are cloud cult, the mountain goats, final fantasy, death cab for cutie, xavier rudd, band of horses, fleet foxes, girl talk, noah and the whale, neutral milk hotel, daft punk, tenacious d, sunset rubdown, radiohead, john frusciante, red hot chili peppers, stars of the lid, múm, the glitch mob, bassnectar, shpongle, longwalkshortdock, and a whole whack of random punk/ska/dubstep/chiptune/mashups/dnb/ambient/folk snippets that i adore.

i love eating interesting/tasty/colourful/healthy food. i'll eat anything that didn't have some kind of brain and nervous system.

if by "friday", you mean "night before the day you have off", there are several preferable ways i like to spend such evenings: dancing like crazy in a dark room with flashing lights and a water bottle in my hand; snuggled on a couch with awesome homemade food and tea and a movie and someone lovely beside me; on my bike; chatting with rad people; out somewhere with low lighting and alcoholic beverages; in a crowded room trying to get closer to the stage; choose your own adventure.

there's not a lot i won't own up to, but you have to be awesome enough to inspire me to tell you.
