I am quiet, weird, and geeky.
My Self-Summary
I'm a gamer and a geek. Not a hardcore gamer, not a hardcore geek
either, but I do use Linux at work and run an RPG most weeks. I
tend to be quiet, I'm a bit shy, but sometimes I cover that up with
rambling tales intended ( sometimes even successfully ) to
amuse...
Mere words cannot contain all the facets of a single being, but
I'll give it a shot anyway. I'm a programmer with a tinge of goth,
a dash of hippie, a few dollops of gamer, two teaspoons of punk, a
quarter cup of metal, two packets of mad hatter, and a pint of
responsible father.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm spending all of my formerly free time with an absolutely
wonderful woman.
Other than that, I'm programming, spending time with my son and
daughter, running an RPG, reading, chatting, exercising, going to
shows, and building stuff.
I’m really good at
Trying new things!
Archery, leather working, cooking, millinery, fire eating are a few
of the hobbies I've picked up, some of which I even still practice.
( Not so much with the fire eating, it tends to disagree with
facial hair... )
The first things people usually notice about me
Odds are, its the Big Black Hat.
If the hat is not doffed, then its either the waist length hair, or
the ever decreasing belly. ( Yay! for gym time well spent! )
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
The strange and unusual stories and films are the ones I keep
coming back to. Fantasy, speculative fiction, space opera, horror,
and anything really weird. Some of my favorite authors are
H. P.
Lovecraft,
Philip K. Dick,
E. E. "Doc"
Smith,
Lord
Dunsany,
Neil
Gaimen,
China Mieville, and
William
Gibson.
Some specific films in the wide range I'm awfully fond of are Pi,
Labyrinth, Legend, Donnie Darko, Freeway, the Cube, Blade Runner,
Mirror Mask, Goonies, Nightmare Before Christmas, Casablanca, Dune,
The Secret of Nimh, Big Trouble in Little China, Dark City, When
Harry Met Sally, The Wall, Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail,
and the Yellow Submarine.
I listen to all kinds of music, though
Metal,
Punk Cabaret, and other oddities
predominate recently. I'm also getting more into electronica like
glitch and
dubstep. Specific
favorites include
Leonard Cohen,
Tom Waits,
Nick Cave,
Nightwish,
Bal-Sagoth,
Tiger Lillies,
Gogol Bordello,
Band of Orcs,
Ministry,
NIN,
Therion,
Emilie Autumn,
The Dresden Dolls,
Vex'd,
Die Form,
Pink Floyd,
VNV Nation and
Dr. Teeth
and the Electric Mayhem.
I'm not terribly picky about food. I like trying new things, I like
the standards. Sushi, Tandoori, Vietnamese, Mexican, whatever. Its
all good. I'm not vegetarian, but am perfectly happy eating
vegetarian most of the time. Lately I've been sticking to the
lighter side of what's available.
The six things I could never do without
My rugrats, my friends, music, kitteh!, coffee, dreams.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... what would occupy the evenings of a super-strong zombie, a
kabbalist, a sentient emotion, and a Dr. Orpheus knock off.
Mystic superhero games are weird.
But seriously, I think about an awful lot of things. I think about
the design of my next mask, ways to improve the queries in whatever
program I was last working on, the wonderful colors the clouds have
turned this evening, when am I going to find time to make some new
arrows, and how beautiful you are with the sunlight glittering in
your hair.
On a typical Friday night I am
... sitting around a table with between 3 to 5 other geeks
describing the impossible as if it required only the roll of the
dice... which, conveniently, it does.
Other nights vary vastly more.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Wibble.
You should message me if
I am looking for someone who can appreciate the odd, enjoy the
strange, question authority, question reality, follow her dreams,
follow the white rabbit, follow the right of way, follow, follow,
follow the yellow brick road, lead a nation, quash a rebellion,
share a story, keep a secret, brew a mean pot of coffee, enjoy a
midnight tea party, travel through time, look to the past, or enjoy
an evening curled up on the couch with a few good books.
If any two of the above sound like you, lets talk.
