*The Rest:
I'm a work in progress, really, with a gift for self-assessment.
I am always there to listen (though I do not pander to narcissism or pettiness). I say what's on my mind and I don't pull punches. Then I feed you. Other than that, here's my likes and dislikes:
-Loves-
-Reading. I go through 3 or 4 books a week. My favorite authors: Robert A. Heinlein, Orson Scott Card, Neal Stevenson, Spider Robinson, Ayn Rand (particularly Atlas Shrugged), Jacqueline Carey (I like to think of myself as a real, live Phedre), Wilbur Smith (up until the last few books, which were horrendous), Jean M. Auel, Tom Holt, Christopher Moore, Anne Rice (yes, I admit it, I had a geekgasm over Blackwood Farm), Warren Ellis (especially Transmetropolitan), Dave Sim's Cerebus comics, Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Adventures, Robert Anton Wilson, Robert Shea, Joan D. Vinge, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, and Thomas Harris.
-Music. I listen to just about anything, especially if it's electronic. My favorite artists: Milla, Haujobb, Tricky, Wumpscut, A Perfect Circle, cEvin Key, Portishead, Claire Voyant, Snog, Coil, Foetus, Juno Reactor, Meg Lee Chin, ohGr, Pigface, Wolfsheim, PJ Harvey (that woman can make any word sound like an orgasm), This Mortal Coil, Dead Can Dance, Massive Attack, Delerium, Pearl Jam, Ministry, Tori Amos, New Model Army, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen Bjork, Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Flogging Molly, VNV Nation, Underworld, Black Lung, Assemblage 23, Belly, Big Sir, The Dining Rooms, Skunk Anansie, Lamb, Einsturzende Neubauten, Heather Nova, Gary Numan, Frontline Assembly, DJ? Acucrack, Lard, Nine Inch Nails, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Iggy Pop, The Clash, early Rolling Stones, White Zombie, the Voodoo Organist, Pop Will Eat Itself, and Gavin Friday (Shag Tobacco is my ultimate sex cd).
-Fetish erotica, be it visual or written.
-Single Malt Scotch. I was raised on the stuff.
-Movies. Among my favorites: Requiem for a Dream, Dogma, Deceiver, Donnie Darko, Highway, Seven, Titus, The Red Violin, Secretary, The Emperor and the Assassin, Farewell My Concubine, Velvet Goldmine, The Usual Suspects, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Smokin' Aces, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Natural Born Killers, American Beauty, Death to Smoochy, The Shawshank Redemption, Lucky Number Slevin, Equilibrium, Casino, Goodfellas, The Godfather I and II, Salton Sea, Delta of Venus, Marat Sade, Shoot 'Em Up, Vanilla Sky, and American History X.
-Innovative television. I tend to download my favorites: Six Feet Under, Oz, Weeds, The Sopranos, Rescue Me, Drawn Together, Cowboy Bebop, Venture Bros., Arrested Development, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Century of the Self, The Power of Nightmares, The Trap: What Happened to Our Dreams of Freedom, Black Books, Top Gear, South Park, The Boondocks, Pushing Daisies, Lie to Me, Criminal Minds, Archer, and Robot Chicken
-My Macs. Yes, I too am a computer geek. I talk to them and about them like they're my pets, friends, or even my children. I guess I've been reading too many Heinlein Future Histories.
-Loathes-
-Bigotry in any form. I will get just as pissed of when an atheist attacks the beliefs of christian folk as I do when a "normal" person attacks me for looking peculiar. Really, people! Normal is just a setting on a dryer and we're all just speculating about what's up there, out there, and in here.
-Petty gossip and sniping. I do not want to hear mean-spirited remarks about someone else. I do not want to deal with people running up to me, saying that he said she said to this person that I'm a such and such. Take it elsewhere or, better yet, grow up.
-Rudeness. Especially in my home. It makes even the smartest person look like an idiot.
I am contemplative, hedonistic, and eloquent
