overly intelligent, respectful, and geeky
My self-summary Propose an edit
Hello I'm Rob, and to my some of my buddies 'spooky'. I am your
typical intelligently sarcastic, silently observant, and using that
to hide behind true geek. I'm also quite proud of the fact I'm a
geek especially since it pays the bills. I love to learn, figure
out, and reverse engineer just about everything I find interesting.
I like hanging out with my best friends Jer, Chuck, Zach, Nicki,
and Rusty although we don't get to as much as we used to since they
became gainfully employed in other cities and states. Personally I
prefer to keep things as simple as the situation would allow.
Typically I'm a cynic with idealist hopes. Here lately I'm learning
to worry less and living life more day by day than I used to. I am
not religious, but I respect those that are able to have blind
faith in things I myself do not have.
On that note I'd like to leave you with a few quotes that I
like...
----------------------------------------------------------------
"A plinker studies trajectory tables; a master studies the wind."
~Unknown
"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."
~Unknown
"Remember a closed mind is one incapable of learning." ~Me
"I want to be one of the reasons that your other female friends are
jealous of you..." ~Me
----------------------------------------------------------------
"These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the
world... and then we fucked up the end game." ~Charlie Wilson
----------------------------------------------------------------
Life's simple, you make choices and you don't look back. ~Han --The
Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
---------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm just a peckerwood that lives in the hills with too many
guns..." ~Bob Lee Swagger
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"The gun has played a critical role in history. An invention which
has been praised and denounced, served hero and villain alike, and
carries with it moral responsibility. To better understand the gun
is to better understand history." ~Tales of the Gun - History
Channel
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if
there is one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than
that of blindfolded faith."
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the
blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
~Thomas Jefferson
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I work in the Information Technology department of a regional
university in Oklahoma. I am responsible for the maintenance of
data on the primary computer system, its integrity, and its safety.
My primary role is the security and administration of the core
machine for the university.
Information Technology... This is Rob...
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Figuring problems out that interest me or plague my users. I've
been told I'm quite good at photography, and have sold a few photos
although I still only refer to myself as an amateur. I'm awesome at
being a friend. The few I've got can trust me with their lives and
know that I would give up mine for them without question.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I love to read. Typically I read technical manuals related to some
interest I have at the time. In non-fiction I prefer to read about
historical events/figures that shaped the world today, which
usually leads me into trying to understand how the events or
decisions that were made came about. As for fictional works I'm a
bit picky, I have read every novel Tom Clancy has written.
I'm an avid movie viewer. I prefer action movies, "based on a true
story" types, and documentaries. My favorite movies would be
Shooter, Blackhawk Down, War Games, The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons
from the Life of Robert S. McNamara, and any James Bond movie. I
secretly always wanted to be Q since that man made all the coolest
accessories.
For music I mainly listen to country, but also I also like
alternative, rock, techno, classical, and some R&B. It really
depends on my mood. Some artists I like are Black Lab, Nirvana,
Wagner, Beethoven, Little Big Town, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, George
Strait, Audioslave, Hans Zimmer, KORN, Sarah McLachlan, Metallica,
Toby Keith, Disturbed, Ted Nugent, AC/DC, Daft Punk, Cross Canadian
Ragweed, Yael Naim, Bon Jovi, Merle Haggard, Stone Sour, Pyotr
Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Staind, Chantal Kreviazuk, Hinder, and
Chopin.
I like some Italian, a little Mexican, but typically I'm a meat and
potatoes kinda guy. I love Applebees, Polos, and Outback with all
my heart.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
The future, past, and present. My job entails quite a bit of
worrying, and that seems to carry over into my personal life. So I
wind up worrying about things an eternity down the road that I have
yet any reason to currently deal with. I also play 'what-if' a lot
with myself and my decisions.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
At my apartment watching a movie, hanging out with friends
somewhere, preparing to go hunting the next day, or down stairs
hanging at my little sister's apartment with her and her boyfriend.
Occasionally I have to work Friday nights since the last thing my
boss would want is me bring the entire system down mid-work day.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
Now that would just defeat the whole purpose of it being private
now wouldn't it?
