My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've just returned to Portland after five years in Southern California. I am bookish, literate, I love movies. On the other hand, I love sports and surfing and being outside. So not exactly a nerd, though I sort of dress like one. I also hit up the Portland thriftstores which I love. I work a lot, but I love what I do, so I'm pretty lucky with that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My job is associated with the creative arts, so I keep up with all the new books and music and film. I pay close attention to street fashion. I am an elder-hipster! I am also studying Spanish. I am heading down to Mexico City to take an immersion program this spring. I am hoping while there to explore the whole Mexican obsession with Morrissey. He is apparently a GOD down there. (I too am a Smith's fan, but not like that.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making fun of things. Wry cultural observation. I am quite amusing in a Supermarket.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty open to whatever your deal is.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Food: Pizza -- Pasta -- British-style egg salad sandwiches
Music: At this exact moment: Cloud Nothings "Hey Cool Kid", Cage the Elephant "Cigarette Daydreams" and on a little Stevie Wonder kick as well.
Shows: SNL !!!!
Movies: Maps of the Stars. Everything. I like old foreign movies a lot. And 70s movies. SHAMPOO and SPLENDOR ON THE GRASS are long time favorites. Not a serial TV watcher tho. Don't binge watch anything.
Books: Everything. Tao Lin, John Updike, Murakami
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Arnold Palmers. Swiss Army Knife. Something good to read. Surfboard. A best friend to call me on my bullshit.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I learned how to surf when I was 40. I feel like I want to keep learning new things, like learning Spanish.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have my share of odd habits, I'm sure.
