My self-summary
I'm a classical musician - I play bassoon and it's pretty sweet sometimes. Currently I play with a local symphony and hopefully will move up from there...

Besides that, I've done some traveling and had some wonderful teaching opportunities. I spend a lot of time and effort thinking about our world and everything, and I think teaching and sharing knowledge and culture is one of of the greatest things you can do.

I consider myself quite a foodie, making all sorts of delicious foods. I also love board games. The modern kind. I'm making a couple of my own which is way too fun.

INFJ if you're into that. I'm kind of into it, not going to lie.
What I’m doing with my life
Freshly returned to Portland after two years in Stony Brook, NY with my Master's degree in Music. I play regularly with a local symphony and am otherwise sorting my life out while taking as many auditions as I can.
I’m really good at
Music! ...I'd like to think.
Finding the perfect restaurant to go to.
Board games!
The first things people usually notice about me
Some people have a bitchy resting face, apparently I have a jolly resting face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Crime & Punishment, The Stranger, The Iliad, Ender's Game, Lord of the Rings, Demian, Sound in Motion, and plenty more...

I like movies that are good
Oldboy, Thirst, Mulan, Taxi Driver, Once, Hero, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring, Jurassic Park, Rumble in the Bronx, The Hangover

I also really like awful movies that are so bad they're great like Cabin Fever, Ice Queen, Dragon Wars, and The Machine Girl

I like classical music. Rather than bombard you with a list of almost every noteworthy composer, since they all have something I like, I'll just say that Brahms is my favorite, especially his 3rd Symphony.
I also like jazz (I was going to be jazz major before my love of classical kicked in; I played sax), especially Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Cannonball Adderley.
I like other stuff too... Daft Punk, The Beatles, The Swell Season, Clogs, Dirty Projectors, random soundtracks, etc..

When it comes to food, I love pretty much all kinds. I lean towards big, bold flavors though. I love all kinds of Asian food (especially Korean, Thai, good Chinese...) and Mexican food and italian food and, well, everything.
The six things I could never do without
1. music
2. laughter
3. fingers
4. bassoon
5. my hearing
6. my sense of taste
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music, society, gender issues and the tyranny of peer enforced gender roles, future plans, past plans, current plans, the vastness of the universe and our precious insignificance in it, the tininess of our planet and its precious resources, music, how to be a better person, how to be a better musician, where we came from, where we're going, life, death, the living dead, the living, women, giving, sleep, music...
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, when they trick me into not practicing (curse you friends!)

Frequently doing super secret government work
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't actually do super secret government work
