My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I feel like this is a daily work in progress. How the heck does one summarize oneself? Rather vague, huh? I am a human male seeking the company of a human female and struggling against an uncaring and chaotic universe, finding laughs and fun wherever possible. Watch this space.
I realize I spend a lot of time thinking about and talking about the arts and media, particularly movies and rock'n'roll. I have pretty eclectic taste - old fashioned in some ways, but not averse to the new or unusual.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Oddly, I flashed on Rick Moranis as Merv Griffin singing "What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life?" on SCTV. If that makes you smile, we should probably talk.

I'm the assistant GM of a yacht club. It's probably not what you're thinking, but it is a pretty interesting job. Pretty taxing in summertime, though, despite the scenery. I don't think it's my life's work, but its a living and the view is great.
I do a little writing on the side, usually about pop culture (movies, rock'n'roll, tv in particular). I'm always chewing on screenplay ideas.
I'd like to travel a lot more, but finding the time has proved difficult for now.
As for that masters...I'm not currently actively working on it. I have the credits, I just haven't gotten the time to do the its one of those things I'll have to do sometime when my work life isn't quite so demanding of my time.

Also, I tweet a bunch, and it may or may not give you some insight into my personality or some such deal:
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being open to something new, ad-libbing at the dinner table, mixing martinis, trivia, making mix cds, obscure pop culture references, being patient and kind and being a goofball. I'm also told I have hidden charms that are not readily apparent.

Convincing young children that I was aboard a ship that was sunk by a U-Boat during WWII, during the great "Ice Cream & Cake Convoy," which brought Ice Cream and Cake to a dessert-starved Great Britain. We didn't want the Germans to get their hands on our new ice-cream flavors, so we had to eat all the ice cream while we floated in the Atlantic, awaiting rescue. This story mystifies kids.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sense of humor, annoying and amusing encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture, my deep brown eyes (I wish)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
6? Where'd that number come from, exactly?
Fresca (Okay, I am just liking the F-sound now)
umm...other stuff.
I really dig craft beer, too.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How do all these people on OKCupid travel so often? Everyone seems to be jetting all over the globe! How the hell do they have the time and/or money?

How the "future" I was promised as a kid hasn't come to pass. Where are the flying cars, moon bases and men on Mars? What gives?

How I'd like to get back to New Orleans as soon as possible. Now, having been to Amsterdam, I'd like to get back there soon, too. Hell, I'd be excited to go to Rome, NY at this point.

How is it that having "a dog's life" is a good thing, but "working like a dog" is a bad thing? Which dogs are these?

How are there so many vegans on this site? I mean, I have known a few vegans, but it seems like the percentage here is sky-high.

Why do so many people here have such oddly specific types of people/lovers they are looking for? I don't have a checklist. Just be nice and able to laugh.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
the same guy I was on Thursday morning.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I live in the suburbs. It's just not a big deal - it's incredibly easy to get back and forth, that's why so many people commute from here.
I work outside a lot during the summer and consequently develop a serious farmer tan.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You don't take yourself too seriously.
You don't freak out by being put on one's list of favorites - there's a lot of people here, it's just a good way for a fella to keep track of those profiles he'd like to return to.
Also, I like the idea of being surprised happily here. Maybe you're not anything that I think I'm looking for, just never know. Chemistry is hard to define. I don't understand wanting to find a carbon copy of yourself in a different sex. I like the idea of shared values and interests, but I'd hope you're quite different from me in many ways.
