My self-summary
The blood of French royalty and Mississipi river pirates runs in my veins. But I only mention it as a segue to let you all know I'm into ravaging, pillaging, plundering, torture, summary execution, etc.

Boston's really a much better city for all that than my tiny hometown in rural New Hampshire, but I still get wicked treesick.

As a reserved, cold-hearted New Englander, I'm slow to warm up and shy to start off, but my friends stick around because once I grow to care for someone, I'd bend over backwards for them. ...Or because I create culinary masterpieces.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in my last days as a full time senior finishing up a degree in political science, while working 30 hours a week as a live-in nanny for room and board. Until recently I was working 10 hours at a library so I could peer sternly over the tops of my hipster glasses at feisty patrons, but now I'm just nannying and deciding if I want to apply to paralegal jobs here or AmeriCorps somewhere on the west coast... Or Chicago... Or Colorado. Or... I just want to see more of the country...

When I have free time, I get up to neat-o shenanigans with my pals, read, draw, travel when I can afford to, etc. My "thing" is volunteering though, in college through my co-ed community service fraternity ΑΦΩ, and now through Boston Cares.
I’m really good at
Writing with my left hand, largely due to being left handed.
The first things people usually notice about me
"Razor tongued temptress"
"You're like Satan in heels."
"Ray of sunshine." - Someone who mistook my hair for my personality
"You put the 'cute' in 'execute'"
"You're neither hideous nor have a terrible personality"
"Do you own anything that isn't green?" - Everyone
"Chaos: 5/5" - Employer to whose "evil minion" position I applied
"You're pretty manly. Handsome. Rugged. You're like a Ford F-150. But you drive around with free range bunnies in the bed because you're adorable too."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I haven't succumbed and gotten a kindle/nook yet, so I probably have 500 beaten-up, used books boxed up back in NH. I'm kind of a book killer... My favorites include Harry Potter, the more mainstream Tolkien, Les Miserables, The Count of Monte Cristo, Atonement, Angela's Ashes, Anne of Green Gables, Ella Enchanted, Jane Eyre, and Pride and Prejudice.

TV... 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Community, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls, and Band of Brothers

Movies... Love Actually, LOTR, Star Wars, X-Men, Fish Tank, Moulin Rouge, Legally Blonde, Bridesmaids, Hot Fuzz, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, How to Train Your Dragon, Beauty and the Beast, and Tangled. According to the girls I nanny, I pretty much am Rapunzel. Except when I'm being "mean" and not letting them have dessert for dinner, strangle the cat, etc.

Music... I don't have a "favorite", since I'm more likely to pick up songs I like rather than albums. A few songs from my current walking-about playlist are You," Florence + The Machine's "I'm Not Calling You a Liar," and Etta James's "Tough Lover" and Irving Aaronson's "Let's Misbehave." I have a deep and lasting love for Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera as well. ...Who doesn't love a man in a mask?

Food... I like my steak like I like my men... Bloody and rare.
The six things I could never do without
1. Singing. I was once asked if I were a Berklee student while drunkenly serenading a friend on the sidewalk and it was probably my proudest moment.
2. My ipod - Most days I walk about 5 miles and I would die without it. Edit: I accidentally put it through the wash, and am now dying...
3. Tea - I drink oceans-worth of tea, especially pomegranate green tea and Espresso Royale/Pavement's Crimson Berry.
4. My favorite sweater - I'm always cold. It's a wicked sexy men's hunter green XXL I got at Goodwill.
5. Beef jerky - I try to blame it on being a New Hampshire lumberjack type... So manly I just can't help it.
6. Hyperbole
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth."
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays I'm usually in with girlfriends, moscato, and my snuggie because I'm at my favorite food pantry on Saturday mornings fairly often and sickeningly early.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm afraid of the dark, which is a problem when I'm walking home and vicious, man-eating bunny rabbits hop suddenly into my path.

I go barefoot at the slightest excuse. From "I'm drunk. Who wears shoes when they're drunk." to "Just got caught in a downpour... I should probably puddle jump."

That, and I'm super sensitive and shit underneath the hard exterior.
