What I’m doing with my life
Current projects include making my own maraschino cherries and getting a dog. I assume the rest of life will pretty much sort itself out after that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I recovered only recently from a hatred of novels I picked up in high school English classes. Favorites since rekindling include To the Lighthouse, After the Quake, and, although I've been told this means I have bad taste, American Pastoral. Please, recommend books to me.

Shows: The only things I've really kept up with are Game of Thrones and Community. Way, way behind on Breaking Bad and Mad Men, but I like them. Previous favorites: Arrested Development, Sports Night, Good Eats, Seinfeld, The Wire, Cowboy Bebop, Honey & Clover. Not as good as I remembered it but fuck it I love it anyway: Northern Exposure.

Music: 50s/60s jazz (Charles Mingus, Bill Evans), 60s British rock (Who, Small Faces, Stones, Kinks), 60s soul (Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin), 80s postpunk and New Wave (Teardrop Explodes, XTC, Blondie, Talking Heads), Johnny Cash, Queen, Clash, Jam, Smiths, Stone Roses, Blur, Belle & Sebastian, Bjork, Magnetic Fields, Beulah, Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re, Janelle Monae, Jonathan Richman.

Food: Half tempted to see if there's a maximum supported length for one of these answers.

Kimchi jjigae, bibimbap, kimchi bokumbap, mapo tofu, fuqi feipian, steamed pork buns, okonomiyaki, tonkotsu ramen, mentaiko spaghetti, oyako don, tebayaki, pasta puttanesca, pasta bolognese, bagna cauda, pizza, Reubens, clubs, ham & swiss, hamburgers, tuna melts, egg sandwiches, PB&J, yellow peaches, grapefruits, navel oranges, pippins, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, crusty bread with soft cheeses, crusty bread with soft butter and some salt sprinkled on top, prosciutto sandwiches dipped in jam, Monte Cristos dipped in jam, waffles dipped in yogurt & maple syrup, anything dipped in hummus, pizza with dijon mustard where the red sauce is supposed to go, root beer floats (the great American dessert), Mission burritos, mussels in white wine sauce, scallops in anything, every last cruciferous vegetable, eggs benedict, granola, Deglet Noor dates, Castelvetrano olives, pot roast, pistachios, sugar donuts, pearl milk tea, ice cream sandwiches, salted caramel, spearmint gum.

This might be quicker: I don't like alfalfa sprouts, umeboshi, and Japanese pickles. The end.
The six things I could never do without
A cup of coffee and five minutes to myself to enjoy it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Foods that don't exist but ought to. Tater Tot corn dogs remain my white whale, but I've had some notable successes along the way.

Also: ethics and crossword puzzles and feelings and stuff.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sing under my breath when out of earshot.
