My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
OKCupid is lyin on me, trying to say that my inbox is full and that you can't message. How's that for a backhanded compliment? In any case, it's false.

Spent the first quarter of my life so far in Texas, the second and third quarters in Chicagoland, and the last quarter in Philly.

I am a mammal. We already have so much in common
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Once upon a time I moved to Philadelphia with three suitcases. My first two years there were spent teaching in a public middle school, where I picked up a lot of inappropriate slang and hard lessons about what it meant to be in charge of other people's kids for eight hours a day.

I've been working in education ever since and I passionately believe in equitable resources and access to high-quality education across all socioeconomic strata.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
*crossword puzzles (in pen. b/c I'm a bawse)
*identifying common dog breeds
*the Internet
*buying gifts for people
*middle school humor
*cultivating extended inside jokes
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
"Miss, you still short" - every one of my former students
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - most anything by Haruki Murakami, Jane Austen, Margaret Atwood, Joyce Carol Oates. Joan Didion, Dorothy Parker, and Mark Twain are all invited to my fantasy dinner parties. If you think a used bookstore is a good place to take a girl, we are going to get along really well.

Shows - Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, and House of Cards. X-Files. Really any HBO water cooler show of the moment. Any show where it takes them the whole season to unravel Who Killed So and So (i.e., The Killing, The Fall, Twin Peaks, Broadchurch, etc.)?! Maybe you want to nerd out and draw some thematic parallels between them with me.

Food - Sushi, cheese, oysters, baked goods.

Music - All 9 minutes of "Dance Yrself Clean" but especially minute 3. Treasure Island 2014 was basically my dream lineup. Some other stuff. I'm trying to keep this profile snappy, so let's save this for in person.

Movies - Honestly, this is a topic that I can drone on and on about for hours, so we might as well revisit this over drinks. The last Mad Max melted my brain (I mean that in a good way).

Other Hobbies - yoga, baking, reading, writing, hiking, traveling, taking photos, visiting museums, occasionally climbing, occasionally snowboarding.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
*iced tea on a hot day; I don't think you West Coasters truly appreciate iced tea. LAWWWWD I need it!
*P E R S O N A L S P A C E
*something to read
*close friends
*a breathtaking landscape, manmade or natural
*witty banter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
*how the past informs the future
*the cycle of poverty and how to break it
*how the same tropes and dramas repeat themselves across humanity on varying scales, like the rings of a tree
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Typical choices, depending on the kind of week I had:
*grabbing a drink/dinner with friends
*taking in a movie or a show
*Netflixing a Critically Acclaimed Mindbending Thriller
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I had a crush on Trent Reznor for like four days when I was twelve.

Okay, that's enough soul-baring for now
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
*you appreciate artistic/creative endeavors - e.g., SOMETIMES you pick up a book, and MAYBE you even finish it!
*you strive to do the right thing
*you think animals and kids are hilarious
*you can teach me something, because I like sharing hobbies with people I'm seeing

Honestly, please just be funny. The #1 thing I miss from the East Coast is fall foliage and the #2 thing is the snark. Irony is the highest form of communication, so please be fluent.
