My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Spent the first quarter of my life in Texas, the second and third quarters in Chicagoland, and the last quarter in Philly.

I am a mammal. We already have so much in common
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Once upon a time I moved to Philadelphia with three suitcases. My first two years there were spent teaching in a "most dangerous" middle school, where I picked up a lot of inappropriate Puerto Rican slang and hard lessons about what it meant to be in charge of other people's kids for eight hours a day.

I've been working in education ever since and I passionately believe in public schooling.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
*crossword puzzles (in pen. b/c I'm a bawse)
*identifying common dog breeds
*the Internet
*buying gifts for people
*middle school humor
*cultivating extended inside jokes
The first things people usually notice about me

How dang fancy I am - I'm so dang fancy.

And short. Also short.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - most anything by Haruki Murakami, Jane Austen, Margaret Atwood, Joyce Carol Oates. Joan Didion, Dorothy Parker, and Mark Twain are all invited to my fantasy dinner parties. If you think a used bookstore is a good place to take a girl, we are going to get along really well.

Shows - Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, and House of Cards. Can only follow one TV show at a time.

Food - Sushi, cheese, oysters, baked goods. Finally learning how to like vegetables after three decades of existence.

Music - Love The National, Arcade Fire, Bjork, Jeff Buckley, The Very Best, The Cure. I will, and have, thrown down big bucks for a potentially mind-blowing concert experience. On a very related note, I'm headed to the Knife concert in Oakland on 4/15 - are you?

Movies - Amelie and About a Boy always make me smile; Roger Dodger and Brick always make me think; Hable con ella makes me cry. I like most anything from Tarantino. Upstream Color was heartstopping. Honestly, this is a topic that I can drone on and on about for hours, so we might as well revisit this over drinks.

Other Hobbies - yoga, climbing, baking, voraciously reading, writing, hiking, traveling, taking photos, visiting museums.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
*iced tea on a hot day; I don't think you West Coasters truly appreciate iced tea. Just saying.
*MY PERSONAL SPACE.
*something to read and/or access to Wikipedia
*close friends
*proximity to natural beauty (it's why I moved here!)
*a job that's more than just a job
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
*how the past informs the future
*the cycle of poverty and how to break it
*how the same tropes and dramas repeat themselves across humanity on varying scales, like the rings of a tree
*aaaaaaand things I can look up on Wikipedia
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Typical choices, depending on the kind of week I had:
*grabbing a drink/dinner with friends
*taking in a movie or a show
*Netflixing a Critically Acclaimed Mindbending Thriller
*looking things up on Wikipedia (this answer always applies)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I had a crush on Trent Reznor for like four days when I was twelve.

Okay, that's enough soul-baring for now
