Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a small town girl with big dreams. I love traveling and
experiencing new things. Life is an adventure after all!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After graduating from Mt. Holyoke College in 2012 I've stumbled
through that rocky post-grad phase of starting out in the working
world by trying to break into professional journalism. My degree is
in Environmental Studies so I'm focused on environmental
journalism. I worked as a reporter with a small newspaper in Teton
Valley, ID last winter, followed by a summer internship in the
Seattle area with an independent, progressive magazine. Now I'm
back home in western MA trying to save a bit of money and apply to
grad school for next fall.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing has really been my forte and I've found I really like
journalistic writing (as opposed to fiction). I've taken a bunch of
journalism courses in college and have written for several small
weekly papers. I especially enjoy writing feature stories about
cool people, projects and initiatives, particularly if there's an
environmental angle. I'm passionate about the environment and love
outdoor activities/recreation. Skiing, hiking, kayaking, and just
exploring and enjoying nature is what I like to do:)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I honestly don't read books now as much as I should, but as far as
fiction goes I'm a fan of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings
series, Jane Austen, etc. I read more nonfiction, particularly
ecology/nature books. If you're into nature writing at all, check
out Terry Tempest Williams, Wendell Berry, and my personal
favorite, Bill McKibben. Bill is an environmental journalist turned
climate activist, and I think that is so cool. Also, Naomi Klein
has a new book out that I think could be a game changer in terms of
reshaping the conversation on climate change. Hands down, one of
the most compelling things I've ever read.
Movies, let's see... LoTR series again is one of my all time
favorites because it's just so epic. Historical dramas like Les
Miserables and Noah can also make for compelling films. But in
general I like comedies, action/adventure, documentaries...
For TV, I like Modern Family, the Big Bang Theory, the Voice... I
don't mind watching sports, especially the Red Sox.
For music I generally listen to pop/rock and also indie and
alternative stuff. I tend to like a lot of 90's stuff depending on
the song. I'm a fan of a capella too :)
I like food, but who doesn't haha? I think trying to support local
farms is important, so anything that comes from a farmer's market
or organic food market is good. I like Italian food too.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I'm doing with my life, and also the future of life on Earth.
I genuinely care about our Earth and all the species that inhabit
this beautiful planet.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It depends. Could be visiting friends, or just chilling at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hmm...I think you'll just have to get to know me better to find
