I am quirky, thoughtful, and hard to read.

My Self-Summary

I think I'm a pretty good person. I strive for a balanced, well-rounded life. I like to think I can get along with just about anyone...and I can, but some people make it pretty difficult. So please don't be one of those people. I am open-minded, nice, and friendly, and I think that's the best way to be.

I'm bisexual and have realized this for quite some time. I don't think it's going to change anytime soon, if at all. If this bothers you, please leave me alone.

I feel like I'm pretty intelligent. I don't know everything, but I like to think I make up for what I don't know by sheer interest in learning. Intelligence isn't the most important thing for me in a match, but I like it when people can at least hold a meaningful conversation with me. I care more about social/interpersonal intelligence than pure academic intelligence.

I have a strange sense of humor which is sometimes a little dark and edgy. I love it when people appreciate my bizarre humor and can make me laugh themselves (it's not really that hard, as long as your sense of humor goes beyond typical frat boy/idiot material).

I am interested in the following:

Music, writing, literature, words/etymology, theatre, improv comedy, films, certain TV shows, video games, food, languages, sociology, psychology, design, politics, philosophy, science, spirituality, astrology, animals, nature, the outdoors, adventure, the macabre, the paranormal, weirdness, and more.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently I'm going to St. Edward's University, and I'm in my second year. I'm planning on graduating a year early. I'm studying English Writing and Rhetoric with a minor in Sociology.

I have my own car, but I'm living at home with my parents at the moment. Hopefully I can find a nice apartment before too long.

I’m really good at

Academics, creative writing, copy editing, having good music taste, playing certain musical instruments (sorta), being elusive, finding things out. And I'm really good at being a wonderful friend and a loving, caring boyfriend! Provided my rather minimal needs are met (basically, as long as I'm not insulted/abused or taken for granted).

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know, and I don't think it matters. Here's an idea: get to know me and notice more things about me! First impressions can be misleading.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: 1984, Crime And Punishment, The Bell Jar, Catcher In The Rye, Infidel, White Teeth, Lord Of The Flies, The Giver, The Glass Castle, To Kill A Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, The Joy Luck Club, Eats Shoots And Leaves, Nickel And Dimed, Life Of Pi, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Hobbit, the Harry Potter series, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, virtually any play, poetry anthologies, etc.

(By the way, I really dislike The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I mention this because if that's one of your favorite books, you might be sorely disappointed with my personality.)

Movies: Children Of Men, A Clockwork Orange, 28 Days Later, Sybil, Palindromes, Little Miss Sunshine, Ghost World, Blindness, The Decalogue, Groundhog Day, Run Lola Run, Amélie, Nell, Mean Creek, Magnolia, Wordplay, Sicko, Bowling For Columbine, Happiness, Storytelling, Safe, Juno, Alien, Cube, Fatal Attraction, Mysterious Skin, Saved!, I Heart Huckabees, Being John Malkovich, Waiting For Guffman, Sunshine, Synecdoche New York, Welcome To The Dollhouse, May, Sister My Sister, The Life Aquatic, Girl Interrupted, The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Night Of The Living Dead, Miyazaki films, James Bond films, The Bourne Identity series, Hitchcock movies, Pixar movies, Indiana Jones, etc.

Music: 10,000 Maniacs, Angelfish, Angtoria, Ani DiFranco, Anna Waronker, Arcade Fire, Auf Der Maur, Autoclave, Bad Religion, Belly, Ben Folds Five, Bettie Serveert, Bloc Party, Blonde Redhead, Boyskout, The Breeders, Butterfly Boucher, Cadallaca, Cake, Cat Power, Collective Soul, Concrete Blonde, Courtney Love, The Cranberries, Crash Test Dummies, Cruiserweight, The Dandy Warhols, Dido, Dinosaur Jr, The Distillers, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, Elastica, Electrelane, Elliott Smith, Epoxies, The Fiery Furnaces, Fiona Apple, Foo Fighters, Frank Black, Franz Ferdinand, Fugazi, Garbage, The Gossip, Halo Friendlies, Helium, Hole, Interpol, Jack Off Jill, Jane's Addiction, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Juliana Hatfield, Kidneythieves, The Kills, Kittie, L7, Lacuna Coil, Le Tigre, Live, Liz Phair, M.I.A., The Martinis, Mary Timony, Massive Attack, Mazzy Star, Melvins, Metric, Modest Mouse, Morcheeba, Morphine, The Muffs, My Bloody Valentine, The New Pornographers, Nightwish, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, No Doubt, Noisettes, Offspring, OTEP, Paramore, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Poe, Portishead, Queens Of The Stone Age, R.E.M., Rachael Yamagata, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rilo Kiley, The Shins, Silversun Pickups, Skunk Anansie, Sleater-Kinney, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Sons And Daughters, Soul Coughing, Soundgarden, Spoon, Straight Line Stitch, The Strokes, Sugar, Talking Heads, Tegan And Sara, That Dog, Throwing Muses, Tool, Tori Amos, Tracy + The Plastics, Tracy Bonham, TV On The Radio, UnSun, Veruca Salt, The White Stripes, Wolfmother, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

(I know my music list is really long, but I feel like it's justified since I have at least one album by each of those artists on my iPod. I've got tons of music, but I can always use more, so feel free to recommend some to me.)

Food: Is delicious. I like some food from every country. I also enjoy consuming meat and dairy. If you don't...well, that's life. You can try cooking me some delicious vegetarian/vegan meals, but it's unlikely that you'll convert me completely.

The six things I could never do without

1. Frontal lobe
2. Occipital lobe
3. Parietal lobe
4. Temporal lobe
5. Cerebellum
6. Brain stem

But I hope to have more than this, because then I would merely be a brain in a jar...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

All the stuff I have to do. Random daydreaming. How to fulfill my stupid little goals. Weird esoteric bullshit. Sometimes I overanalyze things.

Don't be surprised if my train of thought doesn't appear to follow a logical path, on the surface...

On a typical Friday night I am

Engaging in some sort of social activity? Let me check my logbook.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm human! And thus not perfect (unless you find perfection in imperfection, which is a good idea). Seriously, though...

You should message me if

I don't care, just message me. I will almost certainly respond to you (as long as it's an actual message, not a "wink"). Even if you're not interested in dating/whatever, I like making friends too.
