some parts of my job, like handling cranky customers/clients, engaging strangers in conversation, keeping a neutral tone of voice even when the other person is clearly... confused.

finding cool stuff at thrift stores and estate sales. I have lots of great mismatched dishes that are each pleasing in their own way and I am a slave to my love for beautiful old illustrated books

playing games. Like dominoes and cribbage and gin. Poker is good, but I really hate Monopoly. Also I'm pretty sure I could win one of those game shows.

My sunny disposition. I can be disgustingly cheerful. Way too much smiling and laughing. That doesn't mean I don't get sad, angry, upset, or frustrated. I just don't think it's fair to take it out on other people. That's what I'm going for, anyway.

Movies: Blade Runner, Across the Universe, Fight Club, The American President, Hitchcock, anything with Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn, Pan's Labyrinth,

Books: BA in English so I have read many classics and love some of them (William Blake, W. B. Yeats, Dylan Thomas, Matthew Arnold ("Dover Beach") mythology and the Arthurian legend.) Mostly now I read sci-fi/speculative fiction. Favorite authors include China Mieville, Neil Gaimen, Tad Williams, Scott Lynch, William Gibson, Stephen Donaldson, Dan Simmons, Gabriel Garcia-Marquez. Enjoy some gratuitous steam-punk zombie apocalypse stuff.

TV shows: Dr. Who, lots of British stuff, Sherlock, Luther, Weeds, Californication, Jon Stewart, MSNBC,

Music: All the 60's/70's psychedelic, hippie, free-love, end-the-war-now, rock and roll. Motown. Panic at the Disco, They Might Be Giants, Presidents of the United States of America, Sarah Jaffe, Dave Matthews ("Crash Into Me"), Counting Crows, Peter Gabriel, Roxy Music, Sting and The Police, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Squeeze, Sufjan Stevens, Cowboy Junkies, Joni Mitchell, Deathcab for Cutie, 10,000 Maniacs, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Regina Specter. Wolfmother.

Food: Anything with cheese, Greek Yogurt, Sushi, Clementines, Cilantro, Jalapenos, Steel cut Oatmeal, Raspberries, Blackberries and Sweet Cherries, dark chocolate, any kind of nut, pasta, asparagus, snow peas, pears, medium rare steak once in a while.
