I am affable, wry, and empathetic.

My Self-Summary

- My earliest memory is my mother bribing me with a chocolate donut from Meijer's after getting a shot in my butt at the doctor's office.

- At age 4 I learned counting by watching the Price is Right with my babysitter. I used to get really excited and yell "Win a car! Win a CAR!!!"

- I had a crush in kindergarten on Angie Kleinschmidt. We were partners in square dancing class.

- At age 6 I was advanced a year in reading, but was terrified of out-loud activities because I could not pronounce S's correctly. A lifetime of homosexual cliches had begun.

- When I was in 4th grade, I was obsessed with the volume "P" in our encyclopedia set. I did reports on Pennsylvania and Penguins, and convinced my mother that the were required for school.

- When I was in 6th grade, I won a prestigious HS/college award for a painting that I painted in an after-school class. The committee members were really confused when a 12-year old showed up to accept the ribbon. In my rockin' new jean jacket I might add....

- In junior high school, I used to bring pixie sticks to school in the hopes of making friends more easily.

- I lost my 8th grade spelling bee on the word "leotard."

- I almost fell off a ladder as drum major in high school.

- I decided my freshman year of college would best be spent on a substance-free hall.

- I drank almost every day my senior year of college. And played Mario Kart. I was Toad, and I could not be beat.

- I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 22. I still think potty humor is funny.

- My roommate when I was 23 once had all my dirty laundry washed at a dry cleaner during grad school, and the bill came to $83.05.

- At age 24 I wore my first argyle sweater, and it started a long-running love affair.

- At age 27 I made the realization that I had been studying a subject for years that I loved in its conceptual form, but hated the business of.

- At age 29 I made a commitment to improve my health, and have lost 115 pounds since.

- At age 30, I buzzed my hair and haven't looked back.

- At age 30.5, I was beaten at Mario Kart by my best friend's 5 year old.

- At age 31, I'm enjoying Chicago with great friends and great times. My interests are eclectic, but I definitely take advantage of all things our great city has to offer. I like concerts in Millennium Park and dirty martinis. I enjoy working out and a great slice of carrot cake. I make fun of people but am that guy you see out obsessed with his iPhone. I love kids and hate baby strollers. I love board games and poker. I hate listening to people quoting movies and smacking when they eat. I'm too jumpy to watch horror movies and love a good roller coaster ride.

- By age 32, I'm looking to meet new friends and maybe that special someone. And to figure out how to make knitted booties. And to start up poker night again and/or memorize more two-letter Scrabble words.

What I’m doing with my life

Great question. I work 9-5 but went to school for music. And am considering a career change. Isn't life great?

I’m really good at

Making people feel comfortable and/or laugh. Baking. And Spinning class. Continental knitting stitches. In no particular order...

The first things people usually notice about me

my name

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books- too many to list, although I will get around to it- promise.

Music- Jill Scott, David Grey, old-school Lauren Hill, David Brannan. then classical- Haydn, Britten, Mozart, Puccini

Food- yes. It's a favorite.

The six things I could never do without

1. my mom
2. my iPhone
3. Pepsi One
4. DVR
5. A/C
6. my great group of friends

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to make a difference. Cheesy, but true.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with my friends at a favorite local restaurant or bar.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I can't eat beer, ranch dressing, onions, ice cream, milk, peapods, or aspartame.

You should message me if

You are looking for a genuinely nice guy to meet.
