My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well-travelled business person and occasional musician, kind, considerate, dry sense of humour. My friends would say I'm patient, tolerant, diplomatic, discreet and non-judgemental. Try not to take myself too seriously. Apparently I'm not a "completer-finisher" whatever that is.

Also thought I was reasonably well-read, until I browsed some of the profiles on here... going to have to up my game.

I'd love to meet and get to know someone who is comfortable in their own skin, is curious about the world, has a smart but offbeat sense of humour, likes to be very physical but isn't clingy... quirky is good... unresolved contradictions are absolutely fine! Someone also who is in some ways the opposite of me.. I think a sense of being different can keep a spark going in a relationship.

I'm actually working in Scotland at the moment, but plan to be back in London by this time next year. In the meantime I travel to London frequently, at least once a month. I would prefer to get to know someone in the London area rather than where I am right now.

Also very happy to chat with anyone further afield; if the chemistry is there, its there! I do like to travel. (Speaking of which, a lot of my really good matches seem to be in and around New York... why are you all over there? Should I think about moving to New York next year instead? Answers on a postcard please).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Manager at a consulting firm, looking after small teams of people in half a dozen locations around the world. So i travel quite a lot. Trying to take advantage of that, and see and experience the places I go, outside work. Playing in a couple of bands for relaxation. I seem to be in the mood for reconnecting with old but valued friends and acquaintenances, just at the moment.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing - I don't mean creative fiction, I just love writing day-to-day stuff; reports at work, emails, letters to friends, whatever. Music - performing, arranging, mainly jazz/R&B but some classical too. Cooking a limited but tasty range of mainly SE Asian dishes. Making intelligent conversation. Getting completely absorbed in bookshops and losing track of time.

I've absolutely no idea; it's not something that's come up in conversation. Maybe I should start asking?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books - could list dozens, but I particularly treasure The Year of Living Dangerously by CJ Koch and A Perfect Spy by John le Carre. I like pretty much anything by Hilary Mantel, William Boyd, Fred Vargas, Nicolas Freeling and John Gray (the British philosopher, not the American Mars / Venus guy). I also like reading non-fiction on current affairs and psychology/thinking.

Music - a lot of jazz, from 50's to contemporary; selectively blues, soul, R&B; a lot of Brazilian (cos I'm a percussionist); a fair amount of classical. Oh yes, I have a slight weakness for Grade 1 competition level Scottish pipe bands - its probably a heritage thing. I wouldn't worry about it.

And a major weakness for the adorable Lianne la Havas.

Food - let's just say I would not be unhappy to learn that I was going to be forced to spend the rest of my days in either Malaysia, Indonesia, Canton, Szechuan or India.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I'd like to say - resolving the crisis in Syria, or tackling homelessness - but in reality I'm probably preoccupied with largely the same things that you are.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?

Time to find out where the story goes..."

Couldn't decide whether or not to include oral sex in the list of things I could never do without - informative, intriguing, or jarringly inappropriate? It is one of life's great pleasures, with the right person... and hey, this is a dating site, not LinkedIn. So there you go.
