I am clever, peculiar, and cheesy.

My Self-Summary

I'm a borderline rabid intellectual and voracious reader, but I enjoy pop-culture endlessly.

Cartoons are definitely a favorite pastime on [adultswim]. If the toons are any indication, I'm a big kid at heart. I try not to take myself too seriously, which is why I love to laugh (in almost all situations there's something funny to be observed or said).

There are times when I get in touch with my inner assh*le, but that's rare, however, it's sometimes just fun to be a catty bitch. I enjoy discussing politics and religion mostly because that's what I've spent my life studying, but most conversation doesn't have to be that involved.

I'm a bit of gypsy because I enjoy traveling so much. Usually after two years, a place wears thin on me. It's why I've lived in England, Egypt, and various cities Stateside.

As for relationships and ogling man candy, who doesn't like to talk about guys? But, at the end of the day, I'm a hopeless romantic. I'd prefer not to fall in love with the idea of love, but maybe with the right guy, actually do it. I'm just afraid I may be too much of a cynic to let it happen.

What I’m doing with my life

It's been a year on here in Des Moines. I really like it here, but most likely I'll be heading back to the East Coast in another year. Right now, I'm freelance editing for various past mentors I've had at university. In the meantime, when I'm not composing my segue into academia. I'm a banker by day, academic by night. It's still a great change of pace from Boston, but New England definitely is calling to me again (perhaps Maine this time, Ogunquit, maybe). I'll eventually get my PhD and end up teaching cultural theory and religion.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at reading people. It's the whole wanting to be a wacky gay pastor then deciding to go purely academic that changed. I just didn't want to listen to people's problems 24-7.

I'm good at teaching people, which is most likely why I will end being a professor at some point once I get my restlessness under control.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes, voice, and uninhibited laugh... all good qualities people have said about me before and I'm actually starting to believe them.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books (education & entertainment)- Indecent Theology, Sex and the Single Savior, Till We Have Faces, The Picture of Dorian Gray, I Love Everybody (and other atrocious lies), On Violence, God's Beauty Parlor: Queer Spaces in and around the Bible, Answer to Job, Gender Trouble, The Trial of God, Fight Club, Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey, The Collected Prose and Poetry of William Blake, A Separate Peace, Memnoch the Devil

Movies (completely random)- Aladdin, Saved!, The Exorcist, Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, The 5th Element, The Royal Tenebaums, I ♥ Huckabees, Practical Magic, Contact, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Fight Club, Kung Fu Hustle, Death at a Funeral, The Sound of Music

Music (generally eclectic)- Crooked Still, Little Big Town, Madeleine Peyroux, ABBA, Karen Carpenter, Kylie, Gavin DeGraw, Dixie Chicks, Karen Carptenter, Armin van Buuren

Food (totally lazy)- It's Everyday with Rachel Ray...lol

The six things I could never do without

My laptop, food, sex, exercise, and enjoyable, stimulating and funny conversations with friends and other loved ones.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Living up to my potential, taking care of myself, trying to be theological, what my next big step in life is going to be, finding something to make me laugh.

On a typical Friday night I am

It depends on my mood. I can be at home watching movies with friends ordering dinner in or I could be out at a club dancing.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ask me anything and I'll probably tell you.

You should message me if

you want to chat and you think we might have enough aspects of our personalities in common to have a fun, witty, and enjoyable conversations :)
