I'm in the middle of this little adventure called "life," and I'm trying to figure out the rules. If I manage to come up with anything you'll be the first to know; so far I have very few conclusions and many anecdotal observations.

I'm polyamorous, I always like to get that out of the way. I'm pretty new to this lifestyle. My wonderful wife has another partner and it is so wonderful to see her happiness and excitement.

I have a job I love that allows me to indulge my passions for research and writing and talking to interesting people. It's new every day, never boring, and it gives me a fair amount of time to indulge my other passion, restoring old houses. I'm working on a beautiful Federal-style one right now. My wife and I have opted for a child-free lifestyle, although I do love children and enjoy hanging with my sister's kids a lot. I seem to be the favored babysitter these days (sis, I am saving you a bundle, you owe me big time!).

Playing jazz on my flute. Yoga (well, for a guy anyway; I credit my dancer wife with teaching me how to stretch properly years before I ever tried yoga). Making incendiary curries and bringing my friends to tears. Playing Barbies with my niece (and I get to be Barbie sometimes too, not just Ken!) And every guy on here probably says backrubs, but seriously, I'm good at them, if you have a kink in your lower back, I can help.

I often have bits of sawdust or plaster stuck in my hair. Although I do clean up pretty well.

I'm rereading An American tragedy, which I haven't picked up since college, and it's really great. I'm also cracking up over Getting Stoned with Savages by J. Maarten Troost.

The Graduate, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Shining, Pan's Labyrinth, The House of Sand and Fog, Friends with Money. Oh, and I am secure enough in my masculinity to say that I REALLY liked the gay cowboy movie, it was one of the most romantic films I've ever seen.

Well, I'm a bad guy. I really tried to be a vegan, for over a year. But I just can't do it. I need real pizza and a lobster once in a while. Rignt now I am managing to avoid eating animals outside of fish and shellfish. Vietnamese food is my current favorite ethnic chow. My mom's lasagna is the best meal on the planet.

The only good thing about Ronald Reagan was that he popularized Jelly Bellies, I just love those little guys.

I'll listen to almost anything but country, and it gets points if I can dance to it.

My flute, my cast iron skillet, my customized running shoes that keep my knees happy, Fresca, fresh air, morning coffee.

I have a birthmark that is almost a perfect heart shape. And I'm not going to tell you where it is. Although maybe you might get to see it someday:)
