My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Cigarette smoking through a meal of scrambled eggs, scallops, and strawberry cheesecake. Pears, a bag of marijuana, cinnamon." .. oh no wait that's tasting notes on scotch, perhaps I should try personality tasting notes. "Geeky with a side order of crazy; sarcastic with a soft gooey centre, complex but easily enjoyed by those with intellect."

I am soon to become a transplant to San Francisco, after having been a transplant to Los Angeles. I remain however fiercely English and proud of it.

Why do it again? Why up and move? Interesting question; which can only be figured out with the thought that, well, life is too short not to have an adventure.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Plotting, planning, scheming ?

For work I build search engines for people, strangely that seems to be what I often do for leisure, some people may think that mad but fun to do a hobby for money. Kinda like being a pro sports player I guess

I am also attempting to figure out how to play go long distance with my best friend.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making seriously hard things look easy while at the same time having this knack for making simple things look like I am examining them if I am a visitor from Mars.

The cliche would be, I am great at cooking, but I am! My curry is awesome! I have done the pro chef thing once in a previous incarnation. While I don't enjoy the lifestyle, I do sometimes enjoy doing elaborate and screwball technical cooking.

I am also good at things that would be described as "reducing LR-parse trees into Finite-State-Transducers". I think that might just be something my mind came up with after I hit my head on something.

Making myself and others laugh; I try to find ways to amuse myself every step of the way to the grave. Life is too short to be _boring_, play with your food; joke with your friends; be reckless and wear sunscreen.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I am English. Quite amusing when people ask me, in English, to talk to them in English.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Movies Many movies

Comedy Anything of the English persuasion, especially people like Eddie Izzard, Jimmy Carr MonkeyDust (I guess anything surreal and dark)

Music Lots of diversity, lots of electronica, quite a bit of strange, with a bent towards some seriously obscure stuff

I have however been taking to a range of classical music recently

Food I will eat anything tasty. If I can convince things to stay still, I might eat them. If compelled to choose, at gunpoint, one cuisine for the rest of my life I would have to go with Italian, British, Korean, Japanese, Indian ...
Having cooked most things, I find that I am forever intrigued by what I have not mastered.
However, I don't understand tacos, which appear to be a poor substrate.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
scotch ? :P

Science documentaries, history documentaries, documentary documentaries.

My keychain, to many its a lump of metal, to me it's a personal talisman from a previous life.

My bag. Less about the contents; been lived out of it multiple times, on multiple continents, used it as a pillow, occasionally a weapon and has sometimes stored stuff, when it seemed dry enough.

My books, I would probably die trying to save them in a fire.

The computer I write this on, a hackneyed cliche for sure; but it is probably a scary mirror into our lives.

My passport - an uninspiring little red book by itself - but aids in the creation of adventures.

Finally the breaking of rules, which lets me cheat having 7 (no 8) things on the list.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Future of mankind, why we don't live on the moon, and why I don't yet have a paranoid android

Oh and what I want for lunch, that is seriously the hardest part of my day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hacking on opensource, dont laugh honestly I am.
Or playing volleyball.
Or drinking.
Or debating the taxonomical differences between cookies, biscuits and scones, and why y-all got it wrong.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate karaoke to the point of violence.

Or if you want to pack it in for two months, run away and travel on the Trans-Siberian rail.
