I am funny, smart, and the best aunt.

My Self-Summary

After spending two years in Bulgaria in the Peace Corps, a lot of my life is pre-PC or post-PC. Although I have incredible memories and amazing experiences, in some ways it is as if two years are missing, because I don't know the tv, movies, and music that occured in the states (and I used to always know that). I have been back "in country" for two years and overall the two best things about America (and I don't want to downplay freedom and voting) are hot showers and clothes dryers.

What I’m doing with my life

After taking it easy when I got back to the states, I decided to get a "real" job. Although it has nothing to do with what I got a degree in (Psychology major/Religion minor), I have a good job. It is interesting, not overly challenging (but challenging enough), I have met some great people, and there is the room to learn more and keep moving.
Outside of work, I am big on volunteering, reading, and writing. I love music, and have it on great authority that I am the best aunt in the universe (my nephew is a genius, so he is probably right-and no, I'm not biased).

I’m really good at

Writing. Making people laugh. Being me.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile and humor.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

This list is entirely too long, so I'll hit the highlights...

books: Cat's Cradle is my all time favorite and The Time Traveler's Wife is a great book I recently read.

movies: Back To The Future can still make me smile and anything with Tom Hanks will keep me in my seat.

music: The Beatles are by and far musical geniuses, but I like a little of everything.

food: My Mom's spaghetti is the best, and I will try anything once (I did eat for two years in Bulgaria, after all).

The six things I could never do without

My family
Blue jeans
Books
My ipod
A jacket or sweater (because I am usually cold)
Long, hot showers (because I went without long enough)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

All sorts of things. I think about books that I am reading, want to read, have read. I think about why pig is pork, cow is beef, but chicken is chicken-why is that? I think about places I have travelled and places I want to go. I think about how nice it is to not live with regrets. How when I go to bed at night, I don't ever think "I wish I had..." Plus, currently I am thinking, this is entirely too much time talking about me.

On a typical Friday night I am

Reading, catching a game (I am becoming a big baseball fan), and sadly sometimes-I'm going to bed early, because I can.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Private comes later...

You should message me if

You want to. If you have something interesting to say. If you think all the best relationships start as friendships. If you know who you are and want to talk to someone who has themselves figured out. If you can blow bubble gum bubbles as well as soap bubbles without feeling foolish. If you love to drive barefoot. If you believe a bed should be jumped on before it is bought. If you realize how small you are when standing at the edge of the ocean. And, if you don't live your days wishing you were brave enough to do what you want.
