What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Attending gallery openings, free film screenings, author readings, and concerts regularly; running a fairly popular blog on books and women's issues; organizing events for a pro-choice women's organization in DC; working for a progressive nonprofit; and enjoying grad school (in strategic digital communications, because DC).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being the youngest person at art and literary lectures. Laughing at inappropriate times. Memorizing lyrics to songs. Snarking. Making up my own hashtags. Taking photos of vacant buildings. Lending out books and not getting them back.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Big ass glasses. Dry humor. My entertaining facial expressions (Or so I've been told.) Let's just say that when I tell people that I went as Daria for Halloween last year, they laugh and say they can see it, with the caveat that my voice is much more lively.

Also that I walk incredibly fast (I blame the caffeine, but it's probably just because I walk a lot more than the average person).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Authors: Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, Edwidge Dandicat, Michael Cunningham, Virginia Woolf, John Keats, Junot Diaz, Collette, and Don DeLillo.

Books: I like exploring new authors and genres, but especially love modern poetry, letters exchanged between writers, and biographies of kickass women. I like to say that I don't just read books -- I devour them.

TV Shows: VEEP, Last Week with John Oliver, The Daily Show, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, Daria, West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Arrested Development, Orange is the New Black, and Parks & Rec. Also anything British, smart, witty, et al.

Films: I'm really into offbeat comedies and thought-provoking dramas (more often than not, I'll know all of the indie, low-budget movies in theaters, but will have no idea what's "popular" or "mainstream"), but I enjoy most anything with clever dialogue and unexpected storylines. Top picks courtesy of Netflix: Witty British Movies from the 1950s, Cerebral Period Pieces Based on Classic Literature, Understated Dramas Featuring a Strong Female Lead, Visually-striking Biographical Tortured-Genius Movies, Goofy Cult Satires, Dark Fight-the-System Social & Cultural Documentaries, Foreign 20th Century Period Pieces Based on Real Life. Way to make me sound awesome, Netflix.

Music: I love attending shows at Black Cat and 930...I also like Echostage :)

Food: Indian, authentic Asian, and French. But I'll try almost anything. (I eat pretty healthy food, but I admit I'm in love with bacon.)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Caffeine. Internet. Bacon. Used bookstores. Banter. Independent journalism.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
human rights, the environment, art, equity, the importance of making information free and accessible so that people can draw their own conclusions, the future of the publishing industry, what to read/watch/otherwise consume next, what's for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
relaxing at happy hour with friends, book browsing in Dupont, on a boat!, dancing to a local band, or catching up on reading. Mostly the first one.
