My self-summary
I am a nomad, not a jet-setter. I move often, but have little in the line of cash ever. Eclectic is another good word for me. I like poetry readings, singing karaoke, batting cages, photography, fishing, kayaking(I'm an amateur), going to museums and plays, and both beer and wine. I read, constantly. I write, not as consistently as I want, but my first novel is in final edits finally. I worked in a college and loved it. I worked with AmeriCorps and loved that. I would like to get back to the nonprofit education field. I want to travel abroad. I want to learn swing dance. I want to get published. I listen to random types of music (not really techno, and after a country-holic roommate, I may take that off my list too). The one song I could listen to forever is Rhapsody in Blue. My favorite poem is Xanadu. My favorite book is whatever I'm working on (reading or writing) at the time. (unless I'm reading one of my cheesy romance novels in which case I may fall back on something that sounds more intellectual ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I am planning a move to New Orleans, just because. I volunteer teach ESL, and am working on editing my novel. I work retail for temporary income while I'm looking for a grownup job.
I’m really good at
writing, which is not to say writing profiles, and certainly not writing poetry, but I am excellent at writing fiction. I also excel at reading and procrastinating and goofing around, am passably fair at dancing and singing, and am an acknowledged champion at generally being an odd duck.
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh, my brilliant intellect and fashion model looks, my sarcasm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Better authors than books as there are so many- Tad Williams, Todd Boss, Robin Hobb, Stuart Dybek, Jim Butcher, Carrie Vaughn, C.J Cherryh, C.S. Friedman, Michael Chabon, Jonathon Lethem, etc. TV: I was a raised on Star Trek, I loved Fire Fly and Farscape, and I'm addicted to NCIS, Psych, Criminal Minds, and Bones- but I tend to watch many episodes in a row and then drop away from tv for awhile. Music I like, just in general. I am particularly fond of folk root type rock and alt rock. Food: Greek, food, Thai food, Sushi, pizza, burgers, steak, mmm steak...it's close to dinner time. Clearly I'm not a vegetarian- animals are designed to eat each other so I have a hard time with the concept that this is evil. My cat is not evil...okay my cat IS evil but not because she eats meat. All that said, I will go out of my way to get the free range chicken eggs :P
The six things I could never do without
blah blah blah- friends family air food cell books.
I wouldn't be me without:
My dog, my willingness to travel, my penchant for long and random conversations, giddy school girl excitement over geeky things, silliness, my over active imagination.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Possible alien cultures, politics and ethics, actual human cultures: evolution interaction etc, writing (how I should spend less time thinking about writing and more time doing it), the meaning of things, how to least annoy and best serve my friends, what to do with myself, how annoying the pervasiveness of vampire novels is even if I like a lot of them.
Moving somewhere new and preferably warm.
On a typical Friday night I am
Not having as much fun as I should. If you're cute, smart, and fun you should rescue me ;)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm mostly an open book, but for anything actually private you at least have to meet me.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 28–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
If:
*you think poetry and philosophy go well with beer and wine
*you are a little bit intellectual, mixed with a fair amount geek and a lot of just pure silly
*you aren't as interested in pampering and cuddling or idolizing a lady as you are laughing with her while she picks herself up from that stupid thing she just tried or convincing her to try some other stupid thing with you
then buzz me.
