My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
*This is not suicide, it is an act of revolutionary suicide.*
Okay, I think I'm going to actually take this seriously for once, so i guess that means I actually have to write this. Well lets see, first off I'm an independent artist with a degree in photography, though truth be told I have not taken a picture in months and kinda despise the medium. Instead I find myself creating more and more sculptural work and digital work. Mainly digital because I can create it fairly fast and make a quick buck, not so much due to any particular love of that medium. I guess in ways I'm stuck in an aesthetic existential crisis, searching for that total work of art. Spoiled American problems, right?
Anyways I digress, which I guess is why I always have trouble doing this.
Alright back to it and yes, I'm doing this in parts and no, I probably won't revise it.
A short list of things I've done with my life:
Antique Dealer (still do, just don't have a store anymore)
Ran a underground magazine (thinking of starting this up again and making some zines. Do people read those anymore? Maybe I can bring them back, hmmm...)
Ran a underground venue (still surprised I never got arrested doing that, there was far to much riotous activity there.)
Ran a few artist studios (spiritually rewarding but financial failure)
Ran a gallery (see above)
Thinking of going back to grad school, hopefully at VCU. Several reasons and rationales for that, feel free to ask about that. I have a year before I can apply though, so who knows what will happen in the interim.
I'm perpetually optimistic though some folks might disagree citing my constant cynicism.
I've started writing aleatoric poetry and short stories.
I'm at ease in pretty much any social situation, unless I've smoked the weed pot drug, in which case I'm pretty introverted and uncomfortable.
I occasionally write Haiku's to remember little obscure bits of history I come across. Here's one:
"Oh good golly gee
Spurius Carvilius
Where would we be?"
You know because Spurius Carvilius invented the letter G, seriously goog it or read Plutarch.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
probably my accent but i've never really asked.
also recently while reclining on my patio enjoying the cool autumn breeze, completely at ease with life, an old man stopped his car in the middle of the street, rolled down his window and told me how i was the most relaxed, content person he had ever seen. which seems to be a claim echoed by a few friends who comment on my leisure ethic. so i guess there's that as well. also i've been told more than a few times that i bear a resemblance to che guevera. including once by this bro dude who told me he didn't know who che was but that i "looked like benicio del toro in the movie about that cuban dude", you guys know the one it's called "che".

Literature- whew, let's see where to begin? Oh wait I know, how about Walt Whitman, since he is everything I love and then some.

music is extremely important to me. I've come to conclusion that of all our senses, hearing is the most potent. it is how we orient ourselves in space and make sense of our surroundings and realty and with that in mind, i always orient myself with this in the morning, usually while dancing with myself in the mirror.
but more seriously......
music part 1- Standard stuff you'd expect indie, punk, 60's psychedelic, 70's stoner metal, blah blah blah. i'm kinda bored with it and am trying to branch out though.
music part 2- soul music, cause i really really love me some good old soul music. Seriously if you can't get down with soul music then you can't get down with me.
music part 3- i find myself listening to more and more "unlistenable" music like field recordings of tribal rituals, avant garde symphonies, and weird industrial soundscapes
music part 4- Thin Lizzy
music part 5- recently a lot of Victor Jara
Lesley Gore!!!!!
The Everly Brothers
Millie Small
cool stuff that sounds like this
I also like reggae more than any white boy from the hills of Virginia should.
music of 6: cold war era number stations
music of 7: musique concrete

T.V.- I could give a fuck about, it has rarely lived up to its potential as a medium and even when it does it is still rather lackluster.

Movies- I tend to separate movies and cinema/film. Movies much like T.V. is mindless entertainment for me that I could care less about. Film on the other hand I care deeply about and have a tendency to carry on endlessly about. Enough so that I'm finding it extremely hard to provide adequate examples of what I like without providing pages of commentary and caveats. There are two films though that I am currently stuck on; Bill Morrison's deconstructionist short "Light Is Calling" and Elias Merhige's darkly disturbing Biblical allegory "Begotten", both of which I'm still formulating concrete ideas about.

food- when I'm hungry, I eat, and when I am tired, I sleep.

On a typical Friday night I am

hanging out on a friends porch, making some experimental film, or seeing some band i may or may not care about
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like Yoko Ono better than the Beatles, the damn bunch of no talent hacks.
